a siouxsie sioux question!regarding a song

has anyone heard that song belladonna off the album hyaena..does anyone actually what its talking about?..here are the lyrics..

sunrise breaks its fatal perfume
and I'm dizzy to distraction
the scented clutches of a siren's lament
embrace the sound of enchantment
five fathoms deep, the lovers leap
the lanterns of skin beckon us in
o belladonna
nightfalls decent shrouds her intent
in a halo of sharks and a skeleton mask
o belladonna
daylight devours your unguarded hours
burnt and charred, this bride of scars
o belladonna
lost in the glare, all of us stare
the patterns of pain, scream out your name
o belladonna

i know for a fact that belladonna is a flower..a deadly night shade flower..and that in the mideval period allegdly witches and "devil worshipers" took large doses of this plant to have a great high!.

why does it matter what this song..its just out of curiousity..and well..its a good song.

Nice lyrics.

Seems that the belladonna is a metaphor for someone's intoxicating love.
If it's a night shade then, like the plant, this person thrives in the night/uses it to "shroud their intent " .
But this is revealed by the daylight (daylight devours your unguarded hours)when the poisoning effect has taken place and/or because they are "burnt and charred" by the sun. Not sure about that equivalent...maybe they refer to the person as a witch that has literally been revealed and burned or to someone's identity being destroyed (like the plant) because they are revealed by sunlight/truth.

Either way, it's well written.

Never heard the song. Interested to hear it now.

I've never read any comments from the band about this particular track. The remastered 'Hyaena' album is due at the end of the year I believe which should include extensive liner notes about the songs.
