CRIMINALLY UNDERATED! 'Gretchen goes to nebraska','faith, love, hope', 'Earcandy', 'Dogman', and 'Tapehead' are must haves!
The 'Best of Kings X' and 'Live all over the place' come next. They seem to have lost some 'steam' or 'inspiration' over the last 5 years or so, but I have heard their lastest offering 'Ogretones' is a return to form (I have not bought it yet). Beatles/Black sabbath/Hendrix/sly stone all rolled together as one. One a sad note, lack of financial success seems to be finally pushing them to a break up. Bassist/vocalist Doug Pinnick recently posted on a website that it may be time to call it a day.

Why doesn't your co-worker make you a mix so you don't have to spend money on something you may not enjoy?
I suggest you start with their album "Faith Hope Love." It's my favorite of theirs. Rolling Stone magazine (not that this means anything) once voted them 'metal band of the year.' Their lead singer 'outed' himself and a bunch of 'Christian' fans stopped being fans (and stopped being Christian, if you ask me). I think King's X were (are?) very talented. Been a fan since '89 and have everything they've put out.
I would suggest Gretchen Goes to Nebraska. It's flawless from start to finish and most KX fans, like myself, consider it their masterpiece. As others have mentioned, Faith,Hope,Love, Dogman and others are also great. You can usually find alot of their stuff (unfortunately) in used bins very cheap. Check them out. They are well worth the effort. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

You could not have heard anything they have done in the past 10-12 years or have no clue about musicianship. Ask a musician what they think about them and how tough it is to have just a trio. King's X is one of the most respected bands out there to other musicians. Great Rock style playing combined with great harmonies from just a 3-piece band. I didn't believe it until I heard them in person. They're probably not thrashy enough for the super-Metal crowd and not wimpy enough for the uber-hip crowd. It's like they're caught in a kind of musical purgatory. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Man, that is one bad band! Great harmonies, great musicianship - Ty Tabor is a killer guitar player and Doug Pinnick's voice - the great Ritchie Blackmore actually wanted him to sing lead for his band at one time...
They're the classic case of a critically-acclaimed band that's always under the mainstream radar. BTW, my fave cuts are "Goldilocks" and "It's Love". My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth
