You'd have been proud of me, David. A very good friend of mine - who's not a fan as such; she's quite young as well - and I watched 'In Bed With Madonna/Truth Or Dare' the week before (she'd never seen it) and she LOVED it! So she couldn't wait to see 'I'm Going To Tell You A Secret'.

She was particularly surprised by the difference between Madonna Then & Madonna Now.

I'm trying to convince her to come and see her live as well. No luck so far.

'Truth Or Dare' is classic.I love watching that no boring scenes at all

ok, long time fan here, but kinda lapsed since 2001...

i just picked up this set and was kinda bummed about the breif concert scenes, being aussie, we never get her tours (bar 93) so the only way to see em is on DVD.

So question to a current hard-core M fan: Whats the deal with the non-releases of Blonde ambition & RIT on DVD? is there some ownership issues with the concert footage?

I notice when janet tours we have the live DVD before it even begins...so why the 16 year wait for a concert DVD for madonna fans?

Kinda bums me out cuz i think her shows are second to none...well except the 3121 dude naturally

i wish i could have found it in DVD packaging.

I watched the documetary yesterday and I think it's interesting up to the part when the tour ends and everyone says goodbye.After that,it becomes extremely boring and self-indulgent.Seeing Madonna visit Israel and attending Kabbalah classes isn't the least bit thrilling.

But not all of Janet's tours are available either, the Rhythm Nation tour for example.

Madge said in an interview last year that Re-invention couldn't be released until the documentry was released by contract.
She also said they were in the planning stages of releasing a boxset of all her tours. When this will happen is beyond me.

The Justify My Love chorus is left out. Some added verses of Revlations and some dropped out. It's not the full B-Side but it is a still the Beast Within. Just like the version on the Girlie Show is slighty different because it dropped parts of the remix out.

Either way The Beast Within is still a great thing to own.

I agree that as her first live album this disappoints somewhat. Considering how stellar her backing bands used to be, she could have produced kick ass live albums for the Blond Ambition or Girlie Show tours, however, her current live band have to much of a "backing track" vibe about them, no matter how technically gifted they may be, this doesn't translate Im afraid.

There isnt enough of a live vibe to the tracks, particularly the ones she lip synchs (ALL of which are included for some bizarre erason). Why include Die Another Day?? It sounds almost identical to the album version with a bit of crowd noise. Crazy For You, Dont Tell Me, Express Yourself, Frozen would have all been better choices. In fact she should ahve simply realesaed the whole concert. I know its meant to be a soundtrack, but i dont think it quite works in edited form.


That said its worth it for having crystal clear versions of Like A Prayer, Lament, Into The Groove and Mother & Father (One of her most underrated songs - A bit more thought and better production and this would have been the best song on American Life).

I hate to be a whingeing fan, but i so frequently get excited by these things, only to be disappointed because I dont feel Madonna has done herself justice.
