I really RESPECT Harry Belefonte. This guy show be treated like royality on so many levels. Did you listen 2 what he had 2 say last night during his award? Pearls of WISDOM.

He is a class act - definitely no doubt. Through the years he has successfully kept his name and fame away drugs/alcohol, away from gossip mongers and news hounds, yet also spoken up for human rights, even when it was controversial.

thumbs up!

And Harry has an awesome voice...a smooth, rich, full sound.

Pearls of wisdom sprinkled with Republican partisan but wisdom nonetheless. I respect him.

That is really interesting because as I sat in the audience of this year's State of The Black Union Address listening to him, I never would have guessed someone would ever accuse him of sprinkling Republican partisanship. I suppose if the Bush administration would have known Mr. Belafonte would be accused of sprinkling Republican Partisanship, they would not have had him disinvited to Corretta Scott King's funeral.

Perhaps conservative partisan is more appropriate. That talk of the "enemy" and all just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I'm not trying to clown Mr. Belafonte. I agree with most of what he said but we obviously have two completely different opinions about this war. We defintely have different opinions regarding Condi Rice. I'm not about to have this discussion on a Prince fan site. I go to other boards for this. I'm done.
Let's just say that Harry made some great points last night and deserves to be held in the highest regards and leave it at that. Peace.

Oh, btw, Bush does not equal republican. That's what HE'D like people to think but he's far from it in the eyes of many conservatives.

He basically said that the enemy NEVER sleeps, and we can't afford 2 sleep either. That Aids, isn't fixed, hurricane Katrina victims isn't fixed, poverty, isn't fixed.....and we CANNOT let tyranny win out.

Don't quote me word 4 word as I am only paraphasing from memory.

Maybe Belafonte's use of the word 'enemy' was misunderstood as referring to terrorists only. We have many enemys in the world today.....poverty, hunger, lack of healthcare, ad infinitum.

It was said earlier in this topic that the use of the word enemy was "Republican partisanship"....perhaps we should look at his words in another light.....just food for thought and conversation.

I think that if you consider Mr. Belafonte's history of championing civil/Human rights, its pretty clear which "enemy" he was referring to.
