Live albums

What`s your favorite live albums?

Aretha Franklin - "Live at Filmore West"

Dionne Warwick - "Hot! Live and otherwise"

James Brown - "Live at the Apollo"

But in my opinion the BEST live album ever has to be Natalie Cole`s "Natalie live"
I love her 70s soulshouting, and her voice is at it`s best here. "I`m catching hell" is AMAZING worship

It is a superb album.I haven't gotten the Deluxe Edition yet,but I think it includes two or three bonus tracks that don't appear on the regular version.

david bowie - stage (really, all his live albums are top-knotch...'stage' is just a favorite for personal reasons)

laurie anderson - home of the brave (though it's shamelessly overdubbed and some songs were surely recorded in a studio - there's no pretense of it being '100% live', so i don't really care - it's faboo)

talking heads - stop making sense and the name of this band is talking heads (too, TOO funky)

diamanda galas - malediction and prayer and la serpenta canta (diamanda singing blues and country standards is diamanda at her best, in my opinion)

johnny cash - at folsom prison (you don't know what "badass" means until you've listened to this once all the way through)

prince - xenophobia acoustic set (if prince had any mercy on his fans, he'd release this officially)

As a huge Seal fan, I thought I would only feel disappointed with this, but it is so professionally done, and the accompanying DVD is spectacular. Great versions, great setting, great song selection, and Seal is on top form. The perfect balance between soundboard sound and audience noise. The cover also harked back to the original Seal album, which I thought was classy.

He also has a new one featuring a whole orchestra, which is not available in the US, so I haven't heard it:

Even better than "Revolution Of The Mind" is "Love Power Peace". This show was recorded in March of 1971 RIGHT BEFORE Bootsy & Catfish left James. To me, it's the EPITOME of what a "live" band SHOULD SOUND LIKE!!!!! TIIIIIGHT!!!!!
