Janet’s “Call On Me” is up to 16.785 million audience impressions. That’s a fantastic # considering the song was officially released to radio yesterday.

Here’s the breakdown:

993 spins
Pop - 259
Rhythmic Top 40 – 403
Urban – 301
Urban AC – 24
Hot AC – 6

Anyone know what Bouncy’s #’s were the day after “Déjà vu” went to radio?

The day after it LEAKED, it went to 20 mill & made a debut on the Hot 100 R&B coming in at #69.

both songs can do well, ya know. lol this doesn't have to be a zero-sum situation.

that said, they both better watch out for xtina's new jam though! its gonna sneak attack both pop stars.

Now the new Christina single I like. She took a little bit of a chance there and so far it's paying off. Unfortunately Janet is not in the same position as Christina and needs a song that's super-safe to win back radio play after everything that has happened.

The only difference is that the Aguliera track won't be getting much support from Urban or Urban AC (unlike the Janet track).

That can make a big difference.

BTW, don't forget Paris Hilton! That shit is hot!

What the hell is the difference between Rhythmic Top 40 and Urban? I can understand Urban AC. I think that's where it will start to do well after a while since it doesn't really feature a rap or anything and it's soft.

Rhythmic Top 40 does lean more towards urban now, however, this always wasn't the case. Pop and dance used to contribute largely to the format, however, time and tastes change. With that said...

Congrats to Janet on a very healthy debut on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Chart!

#8 Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles
#48 R&B/Hiphop Singles

Anyone know where Bouncy debuted the first week out?

AND BTW, why am I the only one posting chart updates?

I don't even like the song.

The S.O.S. band sample is very subtle. I didn't even notice it the first time I heard the song.

When a sample or interpolation is that short or subtle I really wonder why they couldn't come up with something original for those few bars.

She debuted on Hot 100 at #44 based off airplay alone.

I was played some tracks. I could NOT take it. The word CRAP comes 2 mind.
There was a catchy lil tune called "pop" that was cool.

Wow. In your opinion was it worse than or on the same level as AFY and DJ? But I guess your answer is only really relevant if you think they were 2 of her weaker albums not including Janet Jackson and Dreamstreet.

Slighty better than DJ. To much rehash for my taste. They did a remake of "weekend" for goodness sake. Give me a break.

Yikes. That’s not saying much. But just the fact that they bothered to remake Weekend has me wary.

I did NOT hear a single track that I really dig. I don't know about this one man.....just OK material. A 40 year old singing about the weekend?

what should she sing about?

i'm only asking because i partially agree but...when other artists try it, the general public tends to get bored and say they're not fun anymore. so how does janet avoid this catch-22? for instance, people have been hoping prince goes back to his nastier self for years now. so many folks say he lost his humour when he became jehovah's witness. the same with madonna. a lot of people lost interest with her around ray of light and didn't become interested again until this new record (note: i'm NOT talking about madge's fans, i'm talking about people in the general, music buying public). for u2 it was the reverse. when they changed up their thing, people really gave them shit for it (zooropa and pop, anyone?).

so what would you do if you were janet jackson? would you stick to what you know or would you risk losing even more by changing things up now? keep in mind, she needs this record to be a huge hit after the dismal sales of damita jo and nipplegate.

I'm wondering if you actually heard the album. I'm not doubting that you heard some of her music, but the authenticity of what you heard. There was an outtake from (I believe) Damita Jo called Pops Up that was pretty good. Weekend was not an album track at all.

They said it was from the cd called "20 Years Old". I hope NONE of what I heard is on the new cd.

Good question. I know one thing that I would NOT do and that's let a bunch a guest artist muck up my cd. Also, doing a bunch a rehashed, sample laden material is just lazy and TIRED. It would just be REALLY nice 2 hear some ORIGINAL music for a change.

i'm tired of samples, too, but its the way of pop music these days. its not only janet using samples. hell, even prince samples himself. lol
