I love his song "Love is on the way", which was later covered by Celine Dion.

Listening now. Thanks.

"I am a Spy" is nice, but it's so Braxton.
"I'll Do Anything" has the potential. Would love to hear someone else do this.

Yeah , maybe .
But i won't expect from The Braxtons that they add that jazz-saxophone in the mix .

maybe not...but you can find lovely thin synthy string parts.
Seriously, I like it!. Spy is kinda clever too.

The brother's got serious vocal skills. That will turn some folks off around here. lol
On the Untitled project there are well written songs, good production, mature approach, no profanity...guaranteed to fail. evillol

Standouts:
The Real Me
Use Me
True Love
I Am A Spy
You Need Lovin'
King of the World

The Broadwayesque approach and religious themes won't appeal to some, but for the "you've gotta look for it" crowd, this is a definite find. thumbs up!

Not only can this man outright sing,he puts on a show that will leave you awe struck. He is in my opinion an artist that you must see live. I was at the live recording of his 2nd cd (and his follow up performances) and believe me his albums do not capture the soul of this man. He is truly gifted.

Wasn't hip to him until you posted this thread. Thanks for that.
He will definitely get added to my collection and will be on the lookout for a live performance.

You know there's a Dreamgirls connection to everything for me, right? lol He's featured on this recording (while he was sick with a cold, no ess)...

...along with Heather Hedley (who gets mentioned here often), Audrey McDonald ( who, despite her record-setting back-to-back Tony wins, inexplicably never gets mentioned here), Lilias White (another great vocal talent) and others.

I went to college with Billy. He was friends with my roommate freshman year (Dakota Moon's Ty Taylor) so I'd bump into him every so often and talk. He's a really nice guy. He's had a lot of struggles in his life. I went to see his one man performance last year here in NYC where he laid it all out for everyone. I give him much respect for overcoming all the hurdles that were thrown at him.

Excellent. Wonder what he's up to now?

I just listened to The Real Me again.
You can almost hear the "struggles" in his voice.

Billy Porter is a frequent performer at Joe's Pub in NYC. I receive their e-mails every week detailing all their upcoming shows. That's a great place to start. You may also try Playbill.com.I said this earlier, Billy Porter is someone to see live. He is wonderful.
