OTIS his talented family : THE REDDINGS I still hope a company like Rhino or Hip-O-Select will re-issue albums from this funkoutfit , including Otis III ( on the right ) which played bass-in-ya-face , Dexter Redding ( on the left ) and their nephew/lead-vocalist Mark Lockett . The album above was already their forlast album from 1985 . It contains bumpers like the Larry Blackmon-produced In My Pants , Parasite , the catchy mid-tempo Third Party and a fine ballad Talk's All Over Town . And what about the rest of their catalogue
I've seen a note on 1 of their Billboard ads , that there were videos made of Class + You're The Only One CLASS ( Is What You Got ) http://www.soulandfunkmus...1342850033 They did a European "Steamin Hot"-Tour in 1982 . The Belgium Radioshow Funky Town broadcasted it . It had a great speaking intro by the Tour-MC . During a mysterious breeze-sound , the MC spoke : "It's steamin' hot on my right , it's steamin hot on my left .... OTIS III ! , DEXTER ! & MARK ! ... laydeez & gentz ! THE REDDINGS The big surprise was that Rick James was in the Audience that night . Could have been around the same time when he played in Germany @ Rockpalast ( which now is on DVD ) . Anyway , Rick joined them in the end onstage for a masterjam .

BACK TO THE BASICS http://www.soulandfunkmus...=868643303 ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN http://www.soulandfunkmus...=782448122 HAND DANCE http://www.soulandfunkmus...d=16325566 In 1983 , the album above came out and they also cooperated on Tyrone Brunson's debut album Sticky Situation for RedLock-productions on the CBS-sidelabel Believe In a Dream Records . ( Another artist from that label was Lew Kirton )
The Smurf was Tyrone's biggest slammer and written by Otis,III . Other tracks like Hot Line , I Need Love and Don't You Want It have the clear Reddings trademark-sound .
Another mention is the funkgroup Motivation with their album from 1983 .
Their track Motivation ( Are You Ready ) is an EXCACT Reddings clone-copied song . Worth to check for Reddings-fanatics . ![]() This was their final album . 2 singles came from it ( So In Love With You and Call The Law ) After that , it became more silent . Last signs i noticed was Otis III , his mother Zelma , Redding/nephew Mark Lockett , other family and close ones attending the memorial statue of Zelma's late husband in Gateway Park , Macon Georgia . Otis III also did an Otis-Tribute Show in Europe . ![]() ![]()

The Reddings had some jams. My favorites are:
I Know You Got Another Remote Control You Can Be A Star Steamin' Hot I had completely forgotten about "Class" until I saw the picture of the 45. I'm sure they had some other jams I would remember if they would release a greatest hits compilation. Andy is a four letter word. | |
