There were some smooth jams on his last album.

Never heard that. Nice track.
Didn't someone question his authorship of The Girl is Mine, at some point? This track makes it clear that it's his. Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify

Always loved that track.

I've always loved that song. Unfortunately, I doubt MJ could do songs like that now, even if he really wanted to. He has buried that soulful, raw side of him so deep, I doubt he could get that kind of style and sound back. He is too hang up on being all things to all people, to go back to his real roots.
The clip was so 70's though, intercepting stage performances with air ballons...

MJ said he was going for a Jackie Wilson "Lonely Teardrops" vibe when he wrote/record that song.
A hidden gem. | |

Nah, I like the album version far better. This one cuts out the best part, most of the adlibs at the end.

Thank you so much for posting that version. I wish I could somehow score an audio MP3 of it. I love that song so much! I first discovered that song in 2004 during the Michael Jackson trial time, I was desperate for new MJ music. I started digging through my old Jacksons albums that I didn't play much, and found it. Then I later discovered, it was his first self written and self produced song. (As someone pointed out.) I remember at one point some people claiming it to be his must autobiograpical song ever written. That is something we will probably never know for sure.
However, either way, it is one of Michael's best.

I've loved this song since it was first released in 1976, and I'm not trying to take anything away from Michael, but let's just not "go there":
"Blues Away", produced by K.Gamble, L. Huff, G. McFadden, J. Whitehead, D. Wansel, and The Jacksons Arranged by Dexter Wansel Music Performed by MFSB I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

One of my favorite songs by them ever. He should re-record it.
Is that MJ in the balloon? [Edited 6/13/06 7:37am] Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I don't know about that, but he should definitely re-unite with his bruhz and tour a setlist of mostly songs by the J5 and The Jacksons. Hell, they need to hire me as the musical director and co-director of the show itself. I'm tired of the same old songs, arrangements, and choreography they use. I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

True true true especially since it was a Jacksons song, not a solo MJ cut. I wish they would do something but I kinda gave up but it reminds me of something that could have possibly fit on Invincible with a bit of updating. Though 'The Jacksons' album is full of them. His vocals were the shit back then.

I agree. My favorites are: Butterflies Break Of Dawn Heaven Can Wait Whatever Happens You Rock My World I am so hoping that Michael CONTINUES in this vein on his next album. R&B radio played the hell out of these songs and if his next album as an "R&B" flavor with these kinds of songs, it will be a success. I think that he needs to forget about pop radio, expecially in the USA. They are too biased against him to play to give him a fair shake with his music.

I remember hearing "You Rock My World" in 2002, and thinking, "That song still shoulds FRESH." I had not listened to Invincible in awhile. I pulled out the CD, and the summer of 2002, became, "Summer of Invincible" for me. Worth pointing out.."You Rock My World" still sounds FRESH in 2006.

I don't mind his grittier, throatier vocals either, though i just don't like them as much. It's nothing new, although some folks seem to think it's something Michael started doing towards the end of his career. He used it way back on 'Thriller' (the song) . [Edited 6/16/06 9:58am]
