If she giggles and moans her way through this CD, then I really will be done with her. My fandom has been tested repeatedly since 2001, and this will be the project that either brings me back to her or sends me away permanently.

even if we call the velvet rope a change in image (and it did have a great theme and some serious introspection) that was over a decade ago. its time for something new. and not because i'm bored...like i said, i loved damita jo and was salty as hell ol' girl didn't embark on a tour (and yes, i thought nipplegate was ridiculous with all the things i see on tv). its time for something new because janet can do it, because she MUST have something to say about things other than sex. she must.

However, by 2006, I really don't have the faith in Janet that I did in '01. I'm tired of hearing about her vagina; I'm sick of the mindless interludes. If she giggles even once on this album, it'll be too much. She'd better just skip the rainstorm altogether. It's PLAYED, Janet. She's done the fake topless thing on so many albums and single covers that she'd either better show her areola on the wrapper or cover herself the hell up.

I realize that at this point, arguing about Janet's (lack of) maturity is akin to discussing Michael Jackson's sexuality or Madonna's songwriting skills, but what the hell. Roll on the 'org cliches.

see, and i don't even need a drastic change. the laughter is janet, the interludes are janet. i'm cool with them on every record (and they have been on almost every record). i don't need ol' girl to don a suit and suddenly become miss serious of all seriosity (). i just think when everyone else is doing it -- and has been doing it for years now -- its time for the innovators to step up the game the way they did in the beginning. remind us why we loved them in the beginning.

It's not profound by any stretch of the imagination, but at least it was interesting. At least she was trying. I'm just not so sure anymore.

I think it's the coy, premature, sex kitten-y way Janet goes about her "still sexy in my 40's" image as opposed to the brash, slightly comical ballsiness of Madge and slickness of ol' P that makes it more annoying for some. That's how it is for me, at least.
