headbang i have a long-sleeved rock n'roll high school t-shirt i use as a nightgown! the movie was cheese-tastic, too...ol' girl thinking that joey ramone was hot...oh god. ill

joey ramone was fugtacular, true, but i still think he was HOTT in performance footage. i can see someone having a crush on him, weird as that sounds.

yeah, i can see what you mean. joey was kinda cute...in a scrawny, pale & geeky-freaky sorta way. nod

i love that movie cuz my girl mary woronov was in it as the evil principal. the first time i saw this movie on HBO, way back when i was a kiddo, i wanted to BE mary woronov...of course, i thought she, tim curry and freddie mercury were all the same person back then. lol

This isn't quite a disco film, but it was released during the same era:

One of Patrick Swayze's first films:

And who could forget this classic:

After seeing "Xanadu," "Can't Stop The Music" and the Sgt. Pepper's movie up here, why does "Glitter" suddenly look like a Martin Scorscese-directed film in comaprison?

Great thread. Sadly, I must admit that not only have I seen every single one of these movies mentioned, multiple times, BUT I own 99% of them. My fave disco movies are;

Thank God It's Friday
Roller Boogie
Xanadu

Saturday Night Fever I can't list as a fave cuz the story is depressing as hell. Short motherfuckers jumping off of bridges and shit. If I had to wear shoes with thick ass heels like homeboy was pushing, I might jump too. But of course, the music to SNF was amazing.

I love "Xanadu" boxed I've been watching it alot lately.Yes,it is extremely cheesy and it's missing a plot,but the musical sequences are fun and hypnotic.It's a fantasy/musical and if you don't take it all too seriously,you can really enjoy it.The songs are excellent (especially "Magic","Suddenly" and "All Over The World") and Olivia Newton-John is always delightful to watch razz It's a shame that this movie was disliked by so many people.

"Can't Stop The Music",on the other hand,is dreadful.Probably one of the worst movies I have ever seen barf This film has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.The songs are horrible,the Village People aren't interesting enough to star in a movie,and the "plot" is paper-thin.Unlike "Xanadu",the musical sequences are boring and flat.It's a pointless movie that never should have been made.Oddly,it was released in 1980,long after the Village People's 15 minutes were up.

Some interesting trivia: in 1979,Olivia Newton John was reading scripts,looking for a film to follow-up her successful role in "Grease".She was offered the female starring role in "Can't Stop The Music"! She considered it,but decided not to do it.The role went to Valerie Perrine instead,and Olivia chose "Xanadu".
