I do like George. I have seen pictures of him in makeup where he looks good now, not like the jail pictures.
But I agree his voice has gone downhill. I also think in general over the course of his solo career (at least the parts of it I've heard) he hasn't always had the high quality of material that he had during CC. I think he's the type of artist who needs the right producers and co-writers around him to bring out the best in him.
