Many moons ago I read an article where he (or maybe it was PR poop) felt that Hendrix had been reincarnated in him.
Since that time, i've always listened to him with a jaundiced ear. However... Day of the Eagle Bridge of Sighs The Fool and Me Little Bit of Sympathy ...are pretty cool copy-cat tunes. Now put that fake shit down and go do your math homework. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. He's great at aping Hendrix. Not exactly the real deal, of course, but excels at that whole "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" deal...

Met him at an all ages show at a club here years ago. My friend's band opened for him and Robin's Marshall head blew up. He borrowed my buddy's 100 W Marshall for the gig and gave us V.I.P stickers. A really cool guitar player and a nice guy. He captured the "later 1970 Jimi" sound pretty good.

I'm a big Trower fan - he's the FUNKIEST out of the British guitarists. "Too Rolling Stoned" is too funky...That being said, the use of Fender strats, Marshall amps and the wah-wah pedal and Univibe definitely brings back memories of Jimi, but I always felt his music was different. IMHO, he had/has his own signature style and "Bridges of Sighs" (one of my fave albums) is all MOOD, especially the title track.
Trower's biggest influences were/are r&b music. One can definitely tell in his rhythm playing. Very funky. I think to simply refer to him as a Hendrix impersonator is a 'lil unfair. Someone like Randy Hansen is a Hendrix impersonator. And I've always read that the "Hendrix reincarnated" quote was attributed to another Hendrix-influenced player, Frank Marino. Robin Trower has a pretty big catalog of material. I think he's definitely much more than a "Hendrix impersonator". If anything, I think he's underrated.
