First of all, U cant recapture a 1986, U can try to "feel" that way again, but its just not possible. I sat down and was watching a Mets game from the championship year of 1986 and I can remember how i felt when i was 17 and hanging on to that moment, but somehow now being 37 it didnt feel that way. Janet U cant recapture the past, just concentrate on the NOW. How so? When did her sound change more from what came before than on "janet."? Other than the switch from "Dream Street" to "Control" of course.

Please. frankly, no, it wasn't. and i say that with "velvet rope" being my all time favorite record. she got all freak nasty on janet and continued with the freak nastier on velvet rope. all she really did was take the previous "janet." image a little further. she became bisexual, she got her nipple pierced and flaunted it, she spoke about a sexually suggestive mickey mouse tattoo. so, no, it wasn't an image change. it just solidified the grown up and sexual as hell image that "janet." introduced us to. and this is the same image she's been using since the release of "janet.". but ok. There is a world of difference between this and this This and this There's more to your image than how you look on a talk show (your generalization about talk shows also is somewhat incorrect, but as a fan I don't expect you to know about all her appearances ). And the fact that Janet wore bowler hats to press conferences and performed on TOTP in a tuxedo with huge red tufts of hair during that era should tell you so. [Edited 6/13/06 16:54pm]

we're just gonna disagree on this. i think janet has been using her "fine" card for years, depressed or not and coffee enemas or not. i don't think she needs to not be using her "fine" card. why does she need to change her image with every record? perhaps she should adapt it and make it a little bit more substantive (read: put some clothes on and realize one can be sexy on a record/magazine cover clothed) but i don't think she needs to become chaste or anything!
