me and my mom use to have a little thing about who was better, The Teenagers vs The Jackson five.

she only did it because I would get sooooo upset with her and she'd just laugh. lol

The name was probably changed

after the success of Why Do Fools Fall In Love,

because of this 13 yr. old's amazing voice.

But earlier, they were just known as The Teenagers f/Frankie Lymon

biggrin

From what I read,

adding his name caused conflict in the group,

which broke them up.

The record company was behind all of this mess..

They were preparing Frankie to go solo...

see back then some cats would rename labels to avoind one taxes or 2 payment of royalties. example Bobby Robinson no relation to Sylvia started "Ember records in the early 50s then changed to "Fire" than "Fury" then eventually ENJOY in the late 60's and stayed with that label till the late 80's and became the 2nd most successful rap label rivaling Sugarhill owned by Sylvia Robinson no relation to bobby lol sugarhill was once called "Stang/Turbo/Vibration/Sweet Mountain"

According to the movie (Why Do Fools Fall In Love) He did. After seeing the film, I wondered if the women who came forward to claim his money after he died were really as fine as Halle Berry, Vivica fox and Lela Rochon. Vivia Fox called Lymon a Gary Coleman-looking Mofo.
