you ain't heard Terrence Trent D'Arby/Sananda... ... until you've heard him w/ HEADPHONES
I'm listening to "It's Been Said"... it's bringing me to tears... The beautiful tone of his voice, the simplicity of the song, the power of the words... MAN, what I would do to hear this dude live. I might lose it Truly, insanely beautiful

Truly haunting song...

"To Know Someone..." was the deal that REALLY clued me in to what you're talking about.
I'd dug the first album, when it dropped. And many of my friends in high school felt the same. But it wasn't until NFNF came out that I really began to see how cool and gifted he was. I *still* spin that disc and come back amazed. Listen to *that* one with headphones... song title edit... [Edited 5/21/06 5:49am]

Isn't it just lovely how he can channel Frankie Beverly like that....and use him at his whim. Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify

Search for "Sananda Maitreya" on www.youtube.com I uploaded a ton of live clips of him. The ones from the Vibrator tour (where he has blonde hair) will really blow you away! If you dig "It's Been Said" so much then watch the live clips of "If You Go Before Me," "Let Her Down Easy," and "Holding On To You." www.sanandamaitreya.com

Thank you for mentioning YouTube and TTD. Why I hadn't made that connection yet is beyond me.
Just finished watching "O Divina" the video. Goodness. What a voice!

Oh my. He looks so old in this interview:
http://www.youtube.com/wa...20maitreya Not to mention he comes off like a really geekish Indian guru. Something's definitely lacking from his old charisma here.

I hold his show in Stockholm in '93 as one of the classics.
I really dug some of the stuff on "Wild card",especially "what shall I do",but I never got into the later stuff with "Angels & vampires" cuz of the sloppy production. /peace Manki

I might lose it Truly, insanely beautiful Saw him opening for Duran Duran back in '93 or '94. "Sign your name" and "Delicate" were the big songs, I remember... thought he was there, just for me, to write a fabulous song everytime I encountered a major life's love... Oh yeah, I also remember that he was considered a serious rival to Prince at one time. Here's another genius, doing it all himself.

Agreed, TTD came with it on NFNF. No filler to be found.

And, it seems to have gotten worse over time. In "Wishing Well" and "Dance, Little Sister," he was gettin' down... "Spastic" is the word...

The whole Vibrator album is totally underrated. There is not a bad track on there.
'It's Been Said' is the standout though. Absolutely beautiful song.
