Oh yeah. Bowie is next. What's most notable about these classic albums is that I'm hearing them for the FIRST TIME.

add edit.

Damn, that 'Hunky Dory' record was hot. I like the central role the piano plays throughout the whole thing. I was gonna try to tackle 'Ziggy' tonight, but I may just play this record again and leave 'Ziggy' and 'Aladdin' for tomorrow. I kind of want to hear those two back to back and I only have about an hour or two max of work left to do here in the office.

Yeah, I actually bought that one a few months ago, but was waiting until I got the albums before and after so I could hear all at the same time. Or in this case within a few days of one another.

Maybe, but I can do design work and pay attention to the music I'm listening to. My brain sort of splits that way when I'm doing design stuff. Anything that involves reading however, requires my total concentration so I don't listen to music when I read.

So after listening to Hunky Dory again, I realize my first impression wasn't a fluke. All the melodies are very, very strong. My fave that I had never heard before is "Queen Bitch". The only part that leaves me scratching my head is the end of "The Bewlay Brothers". Don't exactly know what's going on there.

Ah, gotcha. I do that too. You're gonna adore all 3.

"Hunky Dory" is a huge leap forward from what he had been doing earlier. The songs are fun, concise and interesting without being over-indulgent. When you hear stuff like "Cygnet Committee" and "Width of a Circle", you'll know what I mean.

You're having a total proto-punk/glam party! Do you have Lou Reed's "Transformer"?

I'd say so. Bowie produced it and it goes right along with the others you've been listening to.
