Does anyone have this CD yet? I like RHCP, but their last couple of CD's didn't appeal to me. Flea is on the cover of a bass players magazine. In the interview he was saying how the group felt like their albums were getting lengthy, so they set out to make a 12 song CD and ended up releasing a DOUBLE CD instead! lol He also talked about he's much more focused on music and has fallen in love with it all over again so much that he's studying bass really hard, including jazz techniques. fro Go ahead, with yo bad self!
I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

I just listened to the samples at Amazon and damn near every song is lame as shit. This could quite possibly be their worst album so far.

Sounds like they're fresh out of ideas and they're just forcing out garbage.

While all opinions are subjective and one may not like the Pepper's direction since Frusicante rejoined, I must say it is complete total fucking ignorance to review any album, let alone a 2 hour 28 song album, based on Amazon 30 second samples. lol lol lol You've gotta be joking, right? lol

Now, having said that, I'll throw in that the new RHCP record is great. There's a lot of depth to it, a lot of details that reveal themselves over multiple listens. This is one finely crafted album. They strike a good balance between a live feel to the tracks with gobs and gobs of guitar and vocal overdubs, lots of harmonies here. To say it's their greatest album ever may be a little much, nothing will ever probably top Blood Sugar, but Stadium Arcadium is an excellent record that rewards on multiple listens.

The "Dani" character is a running thread through their last couple of albums. The character has appeared in a few lyrics and the latest single is sort of her "finale", so to speak.

Thanks for the word about Flea on the cover of Bass Player, Adisa. I'll have to run and pick that sucker up.

Anyways, the new record isn't one you're going to "get" based on one listen, especially not from 30 second low bitrate mp3 samples!! It's a very deep record, a lot of overdubs, and you'll hear something new every time you give it a listen most likely. Each cd can be taken as its own album, which may be the way to go since trying to listen to the whole thing in one sitting may be too much info to take in. I bought it the day it came out, and I've found myself listening to it constantly. It's a little addicting! Much more so than most of the new releases I've bought this year.

I guess I must have special ears cuz I know what I like and what I don't like. If those 30 seconds are complete garbage, how the fuck can the rest of the song be a masterpiece?

You telling me Amazon only plays the very wost segment of a song?

I didn't like the first couple of songs when I first heard them. They sounded like stuff I'd heard all too often from the Chili Peppers. But I have to agree with the Bige in that you can't fully judge a song from a small sample. The end of Dani California is very different from the beginning. Moreover, the songs grow on you--at least they did on me.

Amazon gives you a taste, and if it tastes bad, spit it out. But that doesn't make it a bad dish.

You've basically summed up my thoughts on this album. I'm still discovering stuff on it, and I havent really listenend to the 2nd disc yet. It really is album that opens up to you the more you listen. So far this is my favorite album this year.
A happy face, A Thumpin Bass, For A Lovin' Race. PEACE.

Amazon can definitely help decide those things, I'm certainly not saying you have to like it or anything.

According to Kleidis, Dani was first mentioned in Californication. She was the "teenage bride with the baby inside". She was also "Dani the girl" from By The Way and I'm pretty sure they are the only songs (apart from Dani California) she is mentioned in.

I like the album, it gets better after a couple of listens. Frusciante's guitar-play together with Flea's bass-playing steal the show here. Keidis still isn't a good singer but he gets away with it.
I had given up the RHCP's after 'Californication' & 'BTW' which I thought were both really lame.
There is some funky stuff on it, it makes a fun summer-cd!

And yes, anyone who judges an album on Amazon-snippets.....disbelief fart

They initially wanted to release 3 CDs ... 12 songs at a time ... 6 months apart ... they determined that they would not be in the same space and time when the last CD would be released ... they decided on a 28 song double CD ... I wonder what the 8 unreleased songs are (bonus CD during xmas?) ... I find SA to be very "hippy" - groovin on a Sunday afternoon feel to it ... moreover, my kids sing Dani Cal, humpty bump and others as i cruise around with them ... it doesn't get any better than that for me cool
