Oh, My! You've Got SUCH a Big Catalogue... ...too bad I can't stand a single song in it! Are there any performers with a large catalogue of recorded material from whom you don't like a single song?
I can usually find something from the long-timers that I love, if not a song I love then one I can at least listen to. The one exception that comes to mind is Billy Joel. I really dont like a single song. Not a one! Zip, zilch, nada. Even when I was all about Bosom Buddies as a kid, it was "Mommy, can you turn down the song at the beginning?" Nearly all of his music sounds dated and very much of the production values of the time it was recorded. Don't even try to name a song that I might like...there aren't any. In regards to Billy Joel, I always loved "Movin' Out" and "Just the Way You Are".

Indeed. He might even sit still for James from the same album. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Why can't I not like his music? Hell, you know this place is like a church for musical evangelists. I've always liked Billy Joel's music... his voice isn't the greatest, but I like what he does with it on his songs. He can play hella piano, too.
Funny, I always thought he was Italian... maybe because he always sang about Catholic School Girls and had this dark hair and big dark eyes... I just recently found out he is Jewish. Oy Vay --- so what do I know from Jewish? |

I dunno. Most performers I don't like, I don't bother to familiarize myself with their entire catalogue of songs... I must be missing out on a lot... Though, I doubt I would ever like a song by Toto.

Girl, you walked into this one... I’m still here, so if they had any power at all, I’d be out of business. America had much more of a follow through than anywhere else in the world…people just fucking hate us [Toto] because they’re supposed to. These kids that write reviews don’t know anything about me, or my music, but they just hate us because they are supposed to. It’s like some sort of right of passage - they’re supposed to love the Clash, and hate us. Here’s the real reality of it, any release that’s technically brilliant is going to get canned, I mean Joe Satriani, Steve Vai…are not going to get good reviews…Jack White from the White Stripes is! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= You know what I mean! We live in a world were being really good is considered a sin…you’re slick, you’re soulless, you’re not really happening. If you wear black and white or red and white and fuck your sister, then you can be a really big rock star. You know what matters to me? I get a call from Herbie Hancock… I'm in Italy in my Hotel room 3 am in the morning and Herbie Hancock finds me and calls me in my hotel room and says “do you want to come and play with me and Wayne Shorter at the Tokyo Jazz Festival? Get your guys over here". Herbie fucking Hancock! Miles Davis played with him, one of the best musicians in the world! When a guy like Herbie Hancock finds me in the middle of the night in Europe...one of the heaviest musicians that ever lived...calls me up and says “Hey Luke, sorry to wake you up” you know? It was an honour! I'm like “Mr. Hancock what can I do for you? of course, what ever you say I will do! And by the way… how do you like your fries?” =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= I'm never going to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and after all these years I'm still making a living playing the guitar... fucking great life! I've been the victim of bad press from day one... to the point where they said our parents should have been sterilised so we couldn't have been born to play the music we play. I don't know how much harsher a review you could get haha! Yeah, that’s one of my favourites...I quote it often. They hate the fact we play with McCartney and Aretha Franklin and that I've played on over 2000 records with some of the world’s greatest superstars. It's because they thought we were a corporate band… put together. He's got a point as well about writers who are supposed to hate them and love the Clash. And this made me think of the dance scene here in Holland actually. It's the same damn thing. "Here’s the real reality of it, any release that’s technically brilliant is going to get canned, I mean Joe Satriani, Steve Vai…are not going to get good reviews…Jack White from the White Stripes is!" Anyway, I hardly know any of Toto's music. I used to hate the song "Africa" (it's one of the few that I even know by them) but lately it's growing on me because they play it ALL THE TIME on the classic rock station here. Maybe Don Henley. It's not that I hate his music, it's just there is something about the radio stations here that they have such a hard on for him. The worst offender is the somewhat new station "Doug", which is basically like those "Jack" stations that play everything. I mean, they play a lot of hit music from the 60s to the 90s (although they claim they play "everything") but it's so heavy on Henley! I mean, at least once I week I hear a Henley song on that station and I moonly listen to that radio in the car. I listen to Sirius more often!

Well I love them...Are you only familar with the stuff US radio played? They have a lot of great ballads and club stompers they've released since then. I almost prefer their ninties and 2000 input more.
