Remakes of famous songs that you heard before the originals

I was listening to Zeppelin's "Battle Of Evermore" today and remembered that the first time I ever heard the song was the remake by The Lovemongers (Heart) on the 'Singles' soundtrack. I don't think I even knew it was a remake until I looked at the credits.

What classic songs have you heard first as remakes before discovering the original versions?

The Twist - Chubby Checker before Hank Ballard
Funky Broadway - Wilson Pickett before Dyke & The Blazers (1st vocal version)
It's All Over Now - Rolling Stones before Bobby Womack

...Might come up with a few more later.

There is a song called "shout" I think that was orginally made by the Isley Brothers.....but made famous by someone else.

Twistin the Night Away - Rod Stewart.

When I first heard this song many, many years ago I had no idea that Sam Cooke wrote and performed this song. I had no idea Sam wrote so many great songs and had such an amazing voice. I was lucky to discover him in the mid-eighties. I know Rod was/is a huge fan of Sams.

I heard somewhere that the Police's Wrapped Around Your Finger was a Bob Marley song that Sting bought. It really sounds like it could be.

On the tacky disco thread, someone mentioned "Yes Sir I Can Boogie" by Baccara. I've only heard the remake by Goldfrapp. Haven't heard the original yet.
