Anybody into Kid Creole and the Coconuts? He was pretty good, back in the day. I heard his band did a pretty powerful show; all the pomp and horns and dancing girls--real vegas type shit. He was kinda like a Latin Prince, in a way. He did a hybrid of funk, pop, latin, jazz, and the like. Does anyone know if the guy is still any good?

I have no idea what he's up to these days but I used to love them as KC&TC and as part of Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band.

He (and the band) was awesome in the 80s, I think he died "artistically" when he sang the stupid shit "pepito" for a tv ad.

When Prince created the Morris Day character,he had to have been inspired by Kid Creole. The baggies, the zoot suits, the ego....Morris Day took this concept and came up with his own persona.

Yeah, like you and DavidEye said, I looked at KC as the blueprint for the Morris Day "character." Change a few lyrics, and that song is "Cool."
