Ameoba Records appreciation thread

So, I'm on holiday here in California.

While I was in San Francisco, I made a point of going to Stanyan-Haight for an afternoon at Ameoba Records! woot!

This was the most selection I have seen at one store. nod

I'm kinda jealous of the people who have access to such a shopping experience. eek

Glad you were able to experience Amoeba. Speaking of, it's time to make another trip, my list is long enough. I only go when I have at least five things to look for, and end up walking out with maybe one or two that was on the list and six other cds/dvds, or whatever I stumble upon.

Haven't been up to the ones in the Yay, but the Amoeba here on Sunset is pretty nice.

Buy of a lot of electronic records there like Kudu, The Presets, Muallem, Modular compilations, etc. So yay! for Amoeba!

Oh god, I miss it so much. The Berkeley store was my favorite way to waste a Saturday when I lived in Oakland. That with a grilled burrito across the street at "La Fiesta." Good times.

The greatest record store in America.

I spend no less then 3 hours and no less then $150 a pop/visit. That store is crack.

One thing: no bathrooms. Thank goodness there is a Jack In The Box across the street (L.A./Hollyweird one). Gross though but good enuff to take a leak during the 3 hours spent there.

I know!! How difficult would it be to have a bathroom. confused It's not like it is part of a mall where there are facilities available. confuse I was there for 3 hours too.

hmmm Now that I think of it, I didn't even order food but I used the washroom at a McDonald's next door as soon as I left Amoeba. neutral

I love me a shopping trip at Amoeba. I usually can't walk out of there with out at least 100.00 worth of stuff.

I have an ongoing "to buy" mental list, and I found ALOT of it there.

i think the equivalent to them on the east coast is kim's records, though it's nowhere NEAR as big as amoeba. still and all, kim's on st. marks is where i'd go to get new music for cheap and super obscure music for not-as-cheap.

Amoeba fucking rocks. I love it. I can't go there and not blow at least $100 and come out with a big stack of new stuff. That's where I bought my japanese "Smooth Criminal" single. Man, I love that place.

That place is definite crack to music heads. The only complaint I have about the store is a smaller store called Arron's Records had to close because they could not compete. I loved that store more than Amoeba because of how personal it all was. but thank God Arron's didn't close without Ameoba being there. That store is fucking heaven mushy

Good thing this faggot didn't hear about you being at the LA store without telling him. You would have been in the biggest trouble of your life spank
