Ludacris was on Conan last night. I decided to watch to see how interesting of a guest he'd be. What I learned about Ludacris from the interview:

1. he's an expert on strip clubs and thinks that Atlanta has the best ones
2. The most important trait when looking for a woman is that she has to have pretty feet. If she's super intelligent and have ugly feet, then he can't really "work" with that.
3. He likes to drive fast. He once drove over 200 mph on Germany's AutoBahn. He drove over 100 mph in Atlanta and got a speeding ticket and was forced to go to driving school.
4. He writes his songs while driving with his knees. I guess that explains why they're so shitty smile

Its a bad thing when you demonize an entire subculture out of ignorance because YOUR COLLEAGUES choose to help promote stereotypical artists to repreent the genre. Hip-hop is way bigger than Oprah and I'll bbe damned if artists like Talieb, Mos, Pharoah Monche, Common and so on deserve to be thrown in with the likes of Lil Jon. There is no excuse for ignorance when you're in a position like Oprah is. There is no justification for this. No matter how much some of you try to help push Oprah above the heads of everyon else; she's one person.

She may simply find the shit boring ass hell. Whether if the message in it is good or bad, if it sounds boring as hell to you, well it just sounds boring as hell to you.

I don't know what her reasons are for disliking it but there are people who dislike simply because it doesn't sound good to them. It's also getting all the airplay and keeping everything else out. If you don't like something, you don't give it more exposure to help it grow, you ignore it and hope it either dies or goes underground soon and hope that something better comes along to replace it. No, she doesn't have the power to do that alone but she does have a show of her own and a say as to who appears on it.

I don't care what her reasons are but I'm for anything to try to drive it out of style. I ain't never been so bored with music in my life. evillol

Oh, I get it. So, the "RIGHT" thing to do for Oprah is to be a self-righteous moralist and judge Ice Cube and Luda accordingly and invite everybody BUT Ice Cube to her show to talk about HIS project which had NOTHING to do with rap and edit out Ludacris's answers to her comments to make herself look more self-righteous? Oh, I see. rolleyes Whatever. Figures that would be the attitude on a Prince fansite.

It's her show she can do what she wants. Everybody has their individual morals that they abide by. She has her respect that and move on. She doesn't have to have every Tom, Dick, and Harry on her show. Do you allow every Tom, Dick, and Harry in your house?

I'm just shocked she never brought up the nickname "superhead" hmmm That seems like something O would wanna say over & over & drive into the ground lol

Oprah: So they started calling you a nickname, what is that nickname?

Oprah: "Superhead, right?"
SH: Yes.
Oprah: "SUPER... HEAD", yes, Superhead. And WHY did they call you that? "Superhead" Why did they call you Superhead?"

No argument there. Those women should be ashamed at the way they allow themselves to be portrayed. The entire hip-hop community (the rappers, the video directors, the ladies in the videos, record execs, etc) needs to take a long, hard look at itself.Things have gotten out of control.

Here's the disconnect for me, though: Women are universally objectified, not just by rap stars. And, Oprah has had numerous "guilty parties" on her show as guests.

Prince practically built his career on objectification of women. Some of his female fans have internalized it as "obsession" or "worship" but, in the 1980s, it was a no-brainer how he would have his female proteges dress: in next to nothing.

Female artists over-sexualize (is that a word?) themselves -- even Oprah guest Eve has been known to play up a sexy image. Is it misogyny when men do it and feminism when women do it?

Tom Cruise's "Eyes Wide Shut" and "Vanilla Sky" had a number of scenes where women were treated as sex objects. He's Oprah's best friend, it seems; he even gets to jump on her furniture. But, I'll avoid talking about the Cruise "I love this woman" campaign.

I'm not turning a blind eye to rap's offenses. But, she seems a bit inconsistent to her moral standard -- if that's what's really behind her opposition to having rappers such as Ice Cube. To her, it's about denying a legitimacy already established by American consumers. Cube's legit, but not worthy of her show? Whatever.

Threadbare, you can't interject logic and reason into a thread that's as emotionally charged as this one. Oprah is worshipped much in the same way that Prince is around here and has been deemed infallible by many. People make excuses for her actions as if she's being attacked when in truth, she's actually just being called on her self-righteousness. We are in an age where people think the way they "feel" is more important than facts and should be held in as high of a standard so logic and reason take a backseat to emotions. Oprah could execute someone on her show and there would be people on here bitching about the police putting her in handcuffs.
"Why'd they handcuff her on national t.v. like that? Its not like she's gonna run"
Its procedure.
"So what! As much as she's done for people, you'd think they'd let her walk out without handcuffs"
She just killed a man on national t.v.
"I'm sure he did something to deserve it; he's a man."
Its no secret that lots of rap lyrics, videoes and etc. run rampant with objectification & disrespect. Is it a problem? YES. That was not the issue, though. People are trying to defer it over to that even though that's not the real issue. People fall for scapegoatism all day long. Blaming rappers instead of blaming the record label that signed them. Blaming street drug dealers instead of holding the companies that ship the drugs over her in massive amounts equally accountable; blaming one side or another for "beefs" instead of the instigating media who starts these things just so they can sensationalize a story and sell magazines. Some people even defend them. Often times, people are being emotional instead of analyzing the facts and the situation and making judgements accordingly.
Nice try though, TB.

3. He likes to drive fast. He once drove over 200 mph on Germany's AutoBahn. He drove over 100 mph in Atlanta and got a speeding ticket and was forced to go to driving school.
4. He writes his songs while driving with his knees. I guess that explains why they're so shitty smile

And he's kinda arrogant too. When Conan complimented him on having a deep voice. He kept on going on about how blessed he was to have a voice that can woo the ladies.

I found it ironically funny that he talked about driving fast but he has a song called "2 mph" in a car commercial. shrug go figure.

Why should Oprah as a black woman promote musicians who degrade black women? Why should she bring them on her show and laud their accomplishments as black men? They seem to be uncapable to do the same for black women in their work. Ludacris doesn't even let his daughter watch BET. If you have to keep your kids away from your work how respectful is it? He won't let his daughter see it, but he wants Oprah to promote it. I love how most of them are running up on the she should support a successful black brother point. Where were all these successful black brothers speaking out when that old Eminem racist slur tape dropped. Oh they'll go balls to the wall w/ Oprah for not getting to sit and chat on her show. Could you not generalize everyone here. I get it. Luda and Ice Cube have legitimate beefs with Oprah. Everybody else who tries to get into the arguement is trippin'. Now, this person doesn't get it, but this discussion has shifted from talking about how wrong it was of Oprah to cut out peoples comments, to how stupid all these other rappers are for accusing Oprah of not liking hip hop, poor people, and being a sellout. They keep acting like it's wrong of Oprah to dislike hip hop, which she doesn't, when they know damn well how offensive their stuff is. And if they don't know, that's a damn shame.

Rap is so tired right now that perhaps if someone was sayin' something of some substance then perhaps she might invite them. What's Ice Cube gonna talk about the art of scowling?

I'd rather her get the Punany Poets on her show, I'll watch then!

Nobody is saying the women aren't lame for that ish. I didn't agree w/ Oprah having Superhead's ass on her show in the least.

As you said, "its her show".

Right it's her show and her moral ideals. It doesn't matter what I think she can have or not have whomever she wants.

You guys still don't get it.....

Not generalizing homie...Just speaking about the folks that continue to miss the original point of the debate...Hence the quote...It's all good though...just trying to enlighten some folks..
