A lot of critics derided this CD for being too urban, too slick and over-produced.

I think it was one of the best CDs he's released, ably merging blues with contemporary sounds. He does a really nice head fake on the title track, employing a swell to introduce the solo. Instead of it being a gritty rock shredder, it's a jazzy, breezy (think George Benson) deal.

I understand the production quibbles. I still suspect the solo on "One Chance" is a cut-and-paste, ProTools job. EC's great, but the solo makes little sense, when dissected chronologically (most solos have a flow, where you can "hear" what the guitarist is thinking -- not so on this one). But, that song also is a jam, so I'm willing to forgive him that offense.

Any other Clapton fans out there digging this album?

I got this album, and i havn't given it a chance. Thanx for reminding me about it.



My fav solo albums of his are "august" and "journeyman", 2 different, but still dancey pop rock albums, with that 80's feel. "august" in particular has dated very badly. But i love tracks like "walk away" "miss you" and "grand illusion", which has a poignant, supurb guitar solo to it.



I need to buy "behind the sun", and i will someday soon.
