Rose Royce is one of my favorite bands. As you said, they made some really tigth jams. I haven't heard the cover you mentioned so I can't comment on that.
I also like an another Norman Whitfield project called "The Undisputed Truth". I recall Rose Royce was often the studio band behind The Undisputed Truth before they embarked their own recording career.

Working at the Car Wash. That is a funny movie. Rent it. Right now. What are you doing reading this? You should be at the video store renting car wash. What's the matter no sense of humor?

Much luv 2 RR, classic cuts that always take me back. Carwash...what can U say... funny old skool movie with a great soundtrack. I found the movie a week ago at a used sale...
Yeah that's right I had 2 buy it! In a related note my family always felt that Richard Pryors role as "Daddy Rich" in the movie was a take on my great Grandfather "Daddy Grace". The brat kid on the skateboard, the brotha in drag, the fly, the pop bottle piss man, the black blonde woman, 2 the cake box with the s*** left on top of the car...lol the movie was crazy! My cut was "I wanna get next 2 U"...

"Wishing On A Star" is one of my all-time favorite slow songs.I've seen Rose Royce in concert many times, including February of this year. They always put on a kickass show! They are one of the few bands whose first album was a movie soundtrack. The 'Car Wash' soundtrack is a classic.

The "Car Wash" soundtrack utilizes a lot of underground Funkadelic sounds. Norman Whitfield held back on credits for Funkadelic bandmembers. De either had them do demo tracks or outfight taped them live in performance and had studio techs recreate the licks for the Rose Royce band. Check the film credits and you'll see "William "Billy Bass" Nelson, the original Funkadelic bass player. test
