The Raconteurs featuring Jack White

Some amazing songs on here but they are the ones Jack sings lead on. I have a feeling he wrote those as well. The others are not so great. But these three tracks...Broken Boy Solidier, Level and Blue Veins are worth the price. Basically the White Stripes without the girl.

Jack White is pretty much a genius (and I haven't used that term since Prince).

He's pretty prolific as well. Hopefully he'll keep getting better.

i always say that jack white is a genuis and i don't say it very often about people. i haven't bought the cd yet though beause i keep hearing it has a 60's vibe to it which isn't my thing. maybe i'll just wait for him to do another white stripes cd.

i like the whole album quite a bit...moreso than i thought. the last song (i think) kinda reminds me of "ball and biscuit", mainly in that it's an epic, kick-ass guitar acid-blues-rock kinda thing...i like the songs that the other guy sings too, though...lots of the songs kind of remind me of t-rex and bay city rollers by way of nirvana and weezer. fun poppy summer rawk music. thumbs up!

exactly. nothing new here and definitely retro-tastic, but well done, nonetheless. it's jack white's Mama Said.

I think the album is so so except for the songs you listed I love those most, and Steady as she goes. nod

Blue Veins is 1000% better live.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

I can't stand the White Stripes, so I wasn't too interested in this when I first heard about it. Judging from what people here have said about it though, it sounds more like something I might like. hmmm

And Jack White DID name his baby after Jimmy Page's daughter. razz

Have you seen their website though? lol I love it. nod

if you like raconteurs, check out the band "eagles of death metal". it's not death metal at all, but it's very stoopid fun '70s-style pop/rock, kinda like raconteurs but more tongue-in-cheek, and with a little more hair on its balls...i think josh homme is involved with this group, too.

Jack White kinda creeps me out and that picture's a perfect example why. But he plays a mean guitar, so I'll give this project a try.

this album is great. it's totally a fun, summer pop album with a little bit of an edge. it's nice to hear jack sound a little more polished than on the completely unpolished stripes albums.

The site where I got these pics from is Ross Halfin's. (rock photographer)

In his diary, he says:

"As I'm heading for the gym run into Jack White looking his usual vampire-white self. He's been in LA making a video. 'My wife's just had a baby girl, she's named Scarlet - tell Jimmy,' he beams."

Jack White definitely loves some Zeppelin. He's kind of similar in that he's dismissed by some as too derivative.

At first it may sound that way, but those songs just grow on you. They've become my favorite band since Nirvana.

I like the White Stripes's albums and I'm liking Broken Boy Soldiers, but I still can't get over Jack White being #19 on the greatest guitarists of all time list.

Wasn't that the same list that put Eddie Van Halen at like #88?
