Donna Summer hints that her life story will be turned into a movie----who should play her?

In a recent interview with the St.Petersburg Times,Donna was asked about her autobiography "Ordinary Girl"....

Is it true you're turning your autobiography,"Ordinary Girl" into a musical?

Donna: Yes,it is.Actually,I'm thinking it might wind up being a movie first, and then eventually it will be a musical.

If you could choose anyone to play you,who would it be?

Donna: That has been a real big question for us.We don't actually know.We think there's maybe an unknown person out there.

hmmm

How about Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child? Many people have said that she sorta resembles Donna.

Kelly's face looks alot like Donna's,and with various wigs,it will be easy to make her look even more like Donna.

Is that a dig at Donna and Kelly? I don't know if I like the idea of a Donna Summer movie, becuase it hints of her being finished, right? I don't like that. What she needs to hint at is...a new album! Did they ask her about that?

Oh, please. This ain't happening. The musical was supposed to happen years ago, and that didn't happen either. I love Donna, but a movie or musical about her? Not really interested, and her life isn't that interesting.

lol Donna is NEVER going to make a new album.I've already accepted that fact.I think she has retired from the music business, but refuses to make an official announcement. She'll continue to tour and release the occasional new song, but a new album? Forget it.

I disagree.I think her life is very interesting, but the problem is,her autobiography is a bore. She didn't dig deep enough and she left out so many details. If they make a movie about her life, they should base it on this book instead:

This book is gritty and intriguing, exposing "the dirt" and all the things that Donna didn't really discuss in her own book.

Consider all the things that could be featured in her movie:

***Her move to Germany at age 18 (against her father's wishes)
***Her roles in musicals like "Hair" and "The Me That Noboby Knows"
***Her first marriage and having a baby while trying to start her career
***Her 1975 single "Love To Love You Baby" which caused a big stir
***Her 1976 suicide attempt
***recording the first real techno song "I Feel Love" in 1977
***being crowned "The Queen of Disco"
***her addiction to drugs in the late 70s
***becoming born again at the height of her popularity
***her bitter 1980 lawsuit agaisnt her record company Casablanca
***her 1981 album 'I'm A Rainbow' was rejected by her new record company and she was forced to enter the studio with Quincy Jones, recording an album that she didn't really want to make
***the 1982 death of Neil Bogart
***the vicious backlash against her in the 80s,when she supposedly made anti-gay remarks
***her late 80s comeback ("This Time I Know It's For Real") after years of flop albums and singles.

Some of these pivotal events weren't even mentioned in her autobiography and if a movie is gonna be made about her life,it all has to be told.

Her life isn't interesting but we have movies about the long island lolita, the runaway bride, some goof that played in one football game for Notre Dame, a highschool football team in Texas that did NOT even win the championship, Bobby Darin,.....I could go on for days.

What do all of these movies have in "common"?

I don't know about everyone else here, but I am damn tired of biopics right now. They are so predictable. Ray and Walk The Line were total snoozefests for me. Start off with someone famous, expose their crappy love lives, drug addictions, mental illnesses, fall from grace, redemption (by God or love or newfound success) etc. Big whoop. I mean you've seen this story a million times before.

They are never going to fit all those incidents into one script....do you realize how long that script would be? lol

Interesting enough for a read, but by-the-numbers cinematically speaking. shrug I'm not putting her down at all. She is a favorite of mine, but hell I wouldn't even see it. And if a big fan wouldn't see it, who would? If it happens, I'd guess a Lifetime double feature, back to back with the Fantasia story.

If it does happen, I highly doubt that it will be a theatrical release. Donna's not that relevant nowadays to warrant a theater release.

the best musical biopics are the Rnb group biopics,

Five HEartbeats and the The Temptations >>>>> Ray, Dorthy,Walk The Line

and it is very easily better movies.

I think New Edition should have a movie, and have actors not musicians just actors who are up and coming, because i am tired of these musicians all in the movies

I think it could be a compelling film if they're honest and don't try to sugar-coat anything. The late 70s disco era was was a wild, outrageous time, and the film needs to reflect that.If they come up with a strong, explosive script and a good cast, this film could be just as exciting as Tina Turner's 'What's Love Got To Do With It'.

something else: the story of Casablanca Records is a movie in itself! That could be another whole film, lots of shocking stuff went on at that record label.Donna's movie really needs to focus on that.

..doing a biopic won't necessarily signal that she's finished...Natalie Cole had a great tv biopic and her career is long from over...she's still snatching up awards and critical accolades with every release..
