Seems thats case for a lot of artists.. Kid A from radiohead is a good example.. I once read that when Thom was makin the record he wasn't happy with his voice, and that when it was finished.. he had a "that's that" attitude and didn't really wanna hear it... that turned out to be (for a lot of people) one of the most impressive pieces in the last 10 years.

Who else has said that about their masterpieces?
