KATE BUSH - Sat In Your Lap oh my.... I love this song so much. I watched the video on You Tube last night. First time I had seen it in AGES, and it just blew me away all over again. "The Dreaming" is an amazing album.... just fucking incredible.
And what a ballsy first single.... "Sat in your Lap" is like nothing else out there.

And what a ballsy first single.... "Sat in your Lap" is like nothing else out there. The second single (title track) was even more ballsy. I mean, did she really think it was gonna do well? Great album indeed.

I remember when I first listened to it
But I swear it's the album I've played the most over the years. Yeah, definitely my favourite.

I see the people working,
And see it working for them. And so I want to join in, But then I find it hurts me. Some say that knowledge is something sat in your lap. Some say that knowledge is something that you never have. I see the people happy, So can it happen for me? 'Cause when I am unhappy, There's nothing that can move me. Some say that knowledge is something that you never have. Some say that knowledge is something sat in your lap. Some say that heaven is hell. Some say that hell is heaven. I must admit, just when I think I'm king, (I just begin.) Just when I think I'm king, I must admit, (I just begin.) Just when I think I'm king, (I just begin.) I've been doing it for years. My goal is moving near. It says, "Look! I'm over here." Then it up and disappears. Some say that knowledge is something sat in your lap. Some say that knowledge is ho-ho-ho-ho. I want to be a lawyer. I want to be a scholar. But I really can't be bothered. Ooh, just gimme it quick, gimme it, gimme gimme gimme gimme! Some say that knowledge is ho ho ho. Some say that knowledge is ho ho ho. Some say that heaven is hell. Some say that hell is heaven. I must admit, just when I think I'm king, (I just begin.) Just when I think I'm king, I must admit, (I just begin.) Just when I think everything's going great, (I just begin,) Hey, I get the break, Hey, I'm gonna take it all-- (I just begin.) When I'm king-- (-- just begin.) In my dome of ivory, A home of activity, I want the answers quickly, But I don't have no energy. I hold a cup of wisdom, But there is nothing within. My cup, she never overfloweth, And 'tis I that moan- and groaneth. Some grey and white matter, "Give me the karma, mama!" I'm coming up the ladder, "A jet to Mecca," I'm coming up the ladder, "Tibet or Jeddah, Up the ladder... "To Salisbury, A monastery, The longest journey, Across the desert, Across the weather, Across the elements, Across the water!"

First time I heard Sat in Your Lap and The Dreaming were on "The Whole Story". And I was like... ugh. WTF??? I stayed clear of "The Dreaming" album for a looooong time, and then I picked it up on a whim. There Goes a Tenner and Pull Out the Pin were the first songs to grab me, and then I grew to adore the rest of it. It did take time, though. It's not an easy first listen

It did take time, though. It's not an easy first listen It's not an easy 100th listen, man. It took me the best part of 10 years to fully appreciate it. I think it's a staggering achievement and very influential in terms of layered soundscapes. She was quite a pioneer when it came to production. Considering it was her first spin in the producers chair and only 23 years of age at the time is quite remarkable. Faves: Pull Out The Pin The Dreaming Night Of The Swallow Get Out Of My House

When i was 23 I was just out of college working part time at a music store and writing bad poetry And just three years later she delivered Hounds Of Love. If only she hadn't slowed down so early on. Bad poetry? Yeah, I did my share of that, too.

When i was 23 I was just out of college working part time at a music store and writing bad poetry yeah....let's see these 23 yr. old fuckers in the music industry now come up with something like that. I was in love with the album after I heard it the first time. I was prepared for the weirdness of it...and ready. oh my god, "Get Out of My House".....where she literally turns into a mule. "Night of the Swallow is probably the sanest song on the album The intro to that is amazing, but I hate how the segue breaks up when I listen to it on my iPod. I think there was a thread on that about iPods and segues. I know it's kinda corny, but I always come up with videos in my mind while I'm listening to her music. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)
