To try and steer this thread back in the right direction, I think Madonna would do AI. As a fan of Madonna's, I'd have to say that she's just as hypocritical as Prince, and would appear on a show like this, even if she dislikes it, to boost her record sales. Remember, this is the woman that recorded 'Me Against the Music' and did that Gap commercial.

In the long run, does it really matter, though? For all of the growth Madonna has undergone since 1986, she's for all intents and purposes a pop star. I wouldn't be thrilled to see her on AI, but I wouldn't be as disappointed as I would be if I saw Bruce Springsteen or David Bowie on the show.

It can be hard for these established stars to sell their albums nowadays. Let's face it, 3121 didn't debut at #1 because of a popular single. Prince needed a way to keep his name on everyone's lips. AI, as much as I don't like the idea of it, was the perfect venue. It probably would've helped Madonna's album move a few thousand copies also.

What exactly did Prince teach, he showed up for 5 minutes and left.

and considering the performances that came before and after his ,Prince taught them how to sing in tune , with charisma and sex appeal , and that you can dance and sing without sounding out of breath . If a contestant on AI DOESN'T learn anything from watching a pro like Prince performing then theres very little hope for them ....5 minutes of ANY Prince performance should be a HUGE education to any up and coming stars .

A few thousand copies wouldn't have helped her cause. She's already sold a decent 1.4 million in the US without a radio hit and coming of a bomb album with AL.

I think she will just lean towards her European fans if America rejects her work because they still highly support her and play her tunes constantly. She doesn't need American to have good sales. She's sold at least 5.5 million outside of America with the new album anyways.

True. And i'm glad he went in, did his thing and left. I would cry if he did like Shakira or Billy Joel and talk with the contestants and help them rehearse for their performance.

True, I agree that her album has performed really well considering that neither Hung Up nor Sorry got enough airplay. I just think that if Maddy had done AI around December or Jan, the album might have climbed right back up the charts. I think it would've helped the album out more than the tour will.

seeing as she is going to make over 250million on the tour alone, plus whatever shirts and crap she sells.... she's makijng more on the tour than she would off of album sales. so i think she's doing the right thing if money is what she is worried about
