songs w/ built in SEGUES & your IPod

Maybe I'm too much of a music geek geek BUT I cannot STAND hearing a great song on my IPod/ITunes & then having some suck-ass built in segue tacked onto the end/beginning of it. WTF?? I know the artist creates the sequence to be heard in its entirety but gat dayum, sometimes you just wanna hear ONE fucking song sigh

I have 5 or 6 playlists in Nero that I'm working on editing:

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill (whole album)
Maxwell Unplugged (whole album)
Experience Jill Scott (whole album)
Prince TRC Live (whole album)

Some other odds & ends that have shit tacked onto them... like Jill tends to combine 2 songs into one track @ the end of her albums, Mary did the same thing w/ her latest.

Nikka Costa has some shit on the end of On & On... The Roots have hella shit on the end of Star... Maxwell has a long ass pause @ the end of The Suite Theme...

Am I the only nerd who can't stand this kinda shit? confused I just wanna hear it clean, no bullshit. I wish they would think of that when they track the albums hammer

No, you're not. I was listening to a Dave Matthews Band mix CD I'd made months ago and was grumbling about all the segues that marred "Before these Crowded Streets."

Perfect example is the hokey segue that follows the stellar, somber "Spoon."

mad

But, unless I take the time to edit the wav file in music software and create ANOTHER mp3, there's no getting around it...

I know, that's what blows the most! I've done one set of songs, burned it to disc, loaded it back into my computer via Nero (so song titles are recognized), THEN put it back into ITunes nutty

I wish you could edit tracks w/ ITunes, that would be sweet drool But no - cut & dry, no fancy stuff mad

yeah, when i put Prince on my iPod, i had to sit down and "fix" all the tracks that segue into each other.

even more annoying is when the track split isn't in the right place on the cd, so you basically have to re-track an entire CD just so that the beginnin of the track is at the beginning of the song.

it's a real pain in the ass.

Why don't you just import those as one song?

It just gives instructions on how to edit parts off confused

You'd be surprised to know how many people have no idea that 2 songs can be imported together

...or one hidden track at the end of a long silence at the end of some albums can be split in two tracks using nothing but iTunes nod

clapping I know ITunes will play songs from a playlist w/ fades between cuts BUT can you build in a fade @ the beginning or end of an individual song? hmmm

Ahhhhh exclaim Alright, I'll do it in Nero. For straight songs ITunes would work but for the live tracks I gotta have fades nod

Ultimate co-sign. Fuck Dave Matthews. I hate his music, and his voice. In 2000 we went to see the cure at pine knob. Having lawn seats, we got there a bit early to find a good spot and pass a lil around. They played like an hour of Dave Matthews over the PA before the show. YUCK!

back on topic, I'm of the camp that combines songs that segue - most of the time. I won't combine all of side two of Dirty Mind onto one track, that's just too much. But stuff like Journey: Lovin Touchin Squeezin/City of the Angels, for example, or even Computer Blue/Darling Nikki, I usually encode as one track.
Keep your headphones on.
