I play this song with my band (not exactly my first choice, but oh well) It was shockingly hard to get right.

Very..extemely..awesome.

Its considered a joke or nostalgia joke by some but that shit still rocks.

That geetar solo? Oh my dam. They are going off in the bridge of the song!

Its also easy to sing to (aka you can sound good no matter how bad a singer you are lol).

Its energetic and clean whatever that mean.

I never noticed until I sang it that the lyrics are kind of dirty.

I agree. My Sharona is an incredible pop outfit. One of the best ever. No one can deny it.

Not that one, but Sweet Home Alabama & Born To be Wild.

My bandmates were surprised to hear that many bands refuse to do Mustang Sally & Brown Eyed Girl anymore.

We were looking for something funky to do and the guitar player suggested Kung Fu Fighting. I mean, I almost couldn't take anything he said seriously after that one.

I'd never choose these songs, but the drunkards at the local tavern love 'em.

If only I could sing Back In Black...

Why would a bar band refuse to play anything? Mustang Sally is cool tune to play if it's done right.
Most bar bands don't take the time to get the grooves right in the majority of the songs they cover.

I think i'd consider running for the hills if they go with Kung Fu Fighting and suggest you dress up as funky Billy Chin or little Sammy Chung. lol

Cool song. Always dug it. The song is funky as well. Very tight and the whole band is in pocket. But the main thing that I ALWAYS think of is that this song kept Chic from having a #1 pop hit with "Good Times"!

I don't mind doing Mustang Sally, since I haven't been doing it for the last 20 years. It's new to me.

I don't know what to think though. A lot of these songs are kind of cliche to me (Radar Love, Pride & Joy, Brick House), but like I said, the people we play for are still screaming "Skynrd!" so maybe everybody wants kung fu fighting, too.

'My Sharona' really took off....it is one of those songs that you hear it and you can neither get it out of your head (and end up singing it all day) nor can you manage to really understand the lyrics and you end up making up your own.
Very driving and addicting.....and good for head-bopping, too! (Back then to say "head-banging" would have been a bit too violent!).
headbang
Not at all like 'Sweet Home Alabama'...that song turned into an anthem of sorts in the SE.

I feel for you as far as Sweet Home Alabama goes.
Many moons ago when I played in cover band in the south, we did an s-load of frat parties at some of the larger southern colleges.
That tune had to be played at least 3 times a night.

If my life depended on it, I could probably play the guitar parts (all of 'em) now strictly from muscle memory.
And don't even mention Free Bird. disbelief

Now The Allman Brothers is a different story.

headbang this has always been one of my favorites.

trivia: this song inspired MJ to write "Beat It".He wanted to come up with a loud rock song that had the same power as "My Sharona".
