To those of you going to see Madonna in San Jose tonight and Wednesday

The "orgers" pre-concert meet-up will be at Emmas,a Mexican restuarant and bar that's only a few blocks away from the HP Pavilion arena.I will be there with some friends, having drinks and dinner before the show. This is a cool place to hang out before any concert and it always gets packed. The food is spectacular. In 2004,for the Re-Invention Tour, they aired the 'Girlie Show' DVD on their TV screens and I already asked the bartender to do something special for this tour, too lol

The place is located at 177 W.Santa Clara Street. You can't miss it,it's a big building on the corner of Almaden and Santa Clara street. They have a large outdoor patio. On Tuesday,I'll be there hanging out with Badujunkie, and on Wednesday,I'm gonna hang out with Heartbeatocean and her husband. This place is right next door to another cool bar,Brittanica Arms.So if you don't like Emmas, you can just go next door. They also serve food here.

I will be there around 5:00 PM. and will hang out until about 7:00 (show starts at 8:00).Looking forward to finally meeting you guys.

.

falloff It was inevitable that this post would make it on to this thread. Now I think it would be hilarious for a hater to show up and then you read in the paper the next day, "Riot at EMMA's". lol

To those of you going to see Madonna in San Jose next week,,,

... can you please sell your ticket and give the money to me, since you obviously have far too much cash in your pockets anyway?

I think you have a lot of free time on your hands going on Madonna and MJ message boards to promote Prince and now wanting to stalk message board users to talk them out of going to a concert.

Why not go make some friends? lol

Nova, you should have learned by now that you can diss Prince on here as much as you want, but never, never ever say something remotely negative about Madonna. biggrin

Btw, I hate her too...

There's a difference. People here have opinions of Prince, and trash Madonna using blatent lies to satisfy their displease with her.

People here never seen a live performance of hers yet feel they have the right to say she lip synchs when she doesn't. It's absurd.

And it's funny how people hate artists and still manage to click on topics about them. Talk about contradictions. lol

I don't hate Madonna, but I do think charging that much money for something that by most artistic standards sucks beyond belief (well, just judging personally from the footage I recently saw) I think am allowed to make fun of her as long as her tour lasts.

The fact she manages to sell those tickets shows there is merit to her performances.
Not many acts could get away with those prices, so instead of giving Madonna her due people would rather trash her for the prices.

Most of the reviews for the tour have been glowing despite the "cross" controversy.

Prince fans won't be satisfied until Madonna, MJ and Janet all make appearances on American Idol to sell their records. wink

I've seen quite a lot of live footage from Madonna (especially in the early to mid 90's on MTV), and I think she sucks big time live. I only would go to a concert of her if you paid me twice the ticket price in cash. But, to each his own.

And, what exactly does it show that she gets away with those ticket prices? That she is a good businesswoman (I don't doubt that)?

Oh, and on your AI addition: Madonna doesn't need AI, she simply pulls out her 500th religious controversy to sell tickets, relying on people not realizing that she's playing the same card over and over again.

Not really. Companies buy concert tickets in bulks as gifts to their employees, this is the case with any established musical icon these days. No matter what, they're always there first and ensure the sales are always at least decent.

And I rarely say someone should be "ashamed" of anything, but pop music artists charging that kind of prices really should (same goes for Prince's recent show announcements). That's just inexcusable, and just shows how these people are money-motivated instead of doing something that they'd genuinely take interest in.

HEY FOLKS, YOU don't have to go see her if YOU don't want to. thumbs up! But for the rest us, why can't we have a good time? I don't piss on your recreational activities... It's pointless and rude. Start your own Madonna-hating thread if you want, but don't diss us for choosing to have a good time in the manner in which we please.

I am PSYCHED biggrin ...oops that's gonna piss some people off... boxed

And by the way Nova, I scanned the boards for tickets that were WAY below face value, cheaper than I paid to see the Rolling Stones in comparable seats (whose tickets I also got below face value)

So tend your own gardens please.

I dont even bother responding to the Madonna haters anymore.
The haters don't care or notice that the tour has been praised by every reputable newspaper from the LA Times to USA Today to Entertainment Weekly, who all said it was worth the $350. They have just convinced themselves she can't sing or she is a terrible live performer all facts or objective opinions to the contrary.
As far as the prices, there are a lot of expenses that go into producing the tour since it has very elaborate staging and videos etc. Obviously, not everyone can afford it, but saying she is greedy is like saying Prada is horrible and greedy because they charge more than Macy's for a jacket. If a lot of craftmanship goes into something, it by necessity has to be more expensive. Music or fashion is a business like it or not, not merely art, which needs to make a profit to continue, and can't operate at a financial loss.
And the cross controversy wasn't used to sell tickets, because the shows were sold out long before anyone knew she was going to be singing on the cross.
So, everyone have a great time. I can't wait until I see her in NYC next month.

I just came back from the first San Jose show!! I'm too tired to write a full review, but let me just say,the show was fuckin' amazing! Trust me guys, this is the MUST-SEE show of this summer. The performance of "Live To Tell" moved me more than ANY other live Madonna performance.

Before the show,I was outside chatting with two of Madonna's dancers. These guys were so cool and down-to-earth.I wanted to ask them a million questions (lol),but I didn't wanna annoy them lol these are the two guys that dance with Maddy during "Forbidden Love"...they mentioned that they are cousins.

SPOILER ALERT: Some observations about the show....

***At one point,Madonna said "I played a few shows in Vegas over the weekend, and the crowds were so dead. But you guys are da shit!" lol

***the "rock segment" of the show is a blast."I Love New York" and "Ray Of Light" were two of the highlights.

***"Jump" featured alot of interesting parkour moves. For those who don't know, parkour is that complex dancing where they jump over buildings....it's very fast-paced and dangerous. At one point, two of the dancers went into the crowd, doing these moves.

***Months ago,I was against the idea of adding "Music" to the setlist.I felt that this song was already performed on the last two tours and it was getting kinda tired. But WOW....the new arrangement is excellent! The song is blended with the 1977 disco classic "Disco Inferno" and I was impressed.Another highlight of the show.

***During "Let It Will Be",Maddy was dancing like a drunk woman, lol.

***Without question, this show features the most talented group of dancers that Maddy has ever worked with. The choreography is impressive throughout the whole show, especially "Ray Of Light" and "Erotica".

***I noticed that,on this tour,Maddy is more talkative than ever.It was almost like a return to the Girlie Show days.

***I was really moved by the "Live To Tell" performance. It was very dramatic.
