Village Voice is hiring free lance music writers!! Yes, it is true, the Village Voice is hiring--or so they say--free lance music writers. All they say to do is email them snippets of your writing. I have no idea if you have to be already published, but I don't think so. They must want some new blood, or want to pay some temp writer less. lol.
I might try out. I do know that there are a few clever fucks here, who could write some interesting musical stuff. Better email them your best stuff. They are pretty free-form, so they might at least give you a shot. Warning, I already am doing the Prince essay--lay off..lol All you others say Hell Yea!!

You certainly have some strong opinions. And persuasive too! Wouldn't you know I laid down one dollar for a Gino Vanelli record?

I've written for the Voice once before, and it was a grueling but great experience...and the money wasn't so bad, either. Though I'm a little hesitant about writing for the Voice now that Chuck Eddy isn't the music editor anymore. And I'm also not sure how thrilled they'd be with a Chicago-based writer. I'd totally love to write for them again, though. It's still the feather in my cap as far as my writing credits are concerned.

I'd pay money to read either one of them. It still kills me slightly that Anxiety worked for Chuck Eddy - I've been reading his stuff for 20 years.
