Who got Snubbed by Oprah? My Short List: Donna Summer, Teena Marie and Whitney Houston.
I Learned Two things from that special: Brandy has a new wig, and Latoya must have been too busy to attend. [ZUNECARD]MikeChristopher[/ZUNECARD]

Whitney and Beyonce were invited.... i'm thinking whitney wasn't able to get her self together to attend and i'm thinking beyonce was filming the pink panther when this event took place or promting that destiny's child cd
but both were invited | |

Lawanda Page was not amongst the living at the time of this event she died in 2002... Oprah made a point of celebrating 25 women who were still alive

actually, it concerns oprah so there's no need to fill me in. Oprah Winfrey's Legends Ball was shown on tv last nite and this thread is about people who some feel that might have not been invited

Oprah is done with Anita Baker and has been for many years. Anita has been scheduled to do the Oprah show couple times throughout the years and has been a no show every time. I remember one time in 94/95 Oprah came out and said 'Well we where going to finally have Anita Baker on today but I was told she had the flu...that was 5 days ago..and apparently she still has the flu cuz she aint here'....she ended up scheduling Roberta Flack on show that also featured Gloria Estefan and Vanessa Williams. Last year when Anita's comeback album was coming out..she turned down Oprah once again (I was told..this was the 4th time).... So I'm sure Oprah thought..'why the hell should I invite her if she aint gonna show!' peace [Edited 5/23/06 10:24am] Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Isn't Teena Marie white? It seemed it was only black women (unless you're talking about the ball).
Octavia Butler might have been nice. My Legacy

Hmmm, did anyone else find the show a bit racist/sexist?
I mean, I get it, I do. Black chics had a hard time makin' it back in the day. We know ALLLLL about it. But WTF already. Okay Oprah appreciates them making the way a bit easier for her and other black women. GREAT.....send them a thank you card. Or even go ahead.....Have a "Legends Ball". But WTF, DON'T TELEVISE IT!!!!! I'm sure Fat Italian Men, Jewish Men w/big noses, Skinny white girls w/no titts, Latinos w/big asses, had a hard time makin' it in show bussiness too. I don't see any tributes to J LO for makin' fat asses cool. But can you imagine what OPRAH or others would do if there was a televised PRIME TIME special called SKINNY WHITE GIRLS BALL?!?!?!?! People would be ALLLL over it.

I did notice none of the thousand waiters were black, though. This must have been on purpose, but I bet there was plenty of black waiters who would have killed for that job that day. My Legacy

What more can I say! LOL! Why do "people" get sooooo scared when Black people decide to do something honoring THEMSELVES? What are you afraid of? Were YOU gonna celebrate Black achievement? Nope. So why are you so worried about this? Is it going to take down America? Nope. So chill. Relax. Sheesh! Living to die and I'll die to live again - 360 degrees - comprehend
