Shirley Bassey

Cool voice, and plenty of good songs, especially "Goldfinger" and "Light my fire" dancing jig

Any fans?

i saw a great arts documentary on her once called "have voice, will travel" exploring her career in depth. she's a true brittish diva, and i became somewhat of a fan at the point of seeing that film. i liked finding out that (what is often the case with so many powerhouse 'pop' singers) that even though her voice is so big, she didn't learn how to sing properly until mid-career; until then she didn't use proper technique, and ended up busting her own vocal cords after a tour and rendering herself mute for a short time. then she had to re-learn how to bring sound out of her mouth again....in short, i like her, drive, camp, and all....i just wish to GAWD she would employ a new costume designer to save us from having to endure some of those monstronsities i've seen her wear onstage; it's like she caught onto the "bob mackie as he used to dress youthful, studio 54-sonny & CHER" era, 25 years TOO LATE lol

The crazy costumes is what i don`t like about her, it`s just way too much.
Her voice is very unique, but i think her image takes over everything confused

OHHH1 MY GAAAAAWWWWWDDDDD!!!!! She is SSSSOOOOO!!!! FFFAAAABBBUUULLLLOOOOUUUUUSSSS. I just love those bravura vocals and over the top gowns. What I love too is all her songs are man done me wrong, wash that man right out of my hair stuff and she is such a prima diva. My favourite songs (probably the campest ones) Does anybody miss me, Big Spender, Diamonds are forever and Kanye West remix, History Repeating, Kiss Me Honey, Honey, Kiss Me, As long as he needs me, I who have nothing (oh my god), with these hands, The lady is a tramp, If you go away (ne quitte pas), Domage Domage, Something, Climb evry mountain, and my all time favourite, What now my love.
She is the prima diva, in fact my friends used to call me Shirley because of my mixed race ancestry and bitchy campy demeanour. hers nothing like Ms Bassey to bring the queen in you out. Shes up there with Ms Streisand and Judy Garland.

(Tamille, my camp alter ego)

You must be the biggest Bassey fan on the org biggrin
Do you know a song she did called "Better off alone"?

"And all those beginners
they just turn out sinners
and you`re left out crying as they turn and leave"

Great song, i think she`s the only artist who has recorded it.

Diamonds from Sierra Leone is all Kanye West, Shirley recorded Diamonds are forever in 1971

Diamonds are 4 eva
Theyre all I have to please me
They wont leave in the night.

And yeah I am probably her biggest fan, minus all the British and Kiwi middle aged and older gay men who think she is actually the goddess Medusa and Persephone rolled into one and reborn to add some fabulosity to their otherwise dullish lives.
