Jukeboxes In the 80s, there was this burger joint in my hometown called Ponderosa (I never see them in Canada anymore but I hear the US still has them). As much as I liked them crinkle fries in the foil bag  , I think the coolest thing was the jukebox in the arcade room.
Loaded up with 45s, I would love choosing songs on it as a kid. You could realize the decline of the location as the `90s wore on and the jukebox was rolled out into the sitting area, with the same old 45s that hadn't been updated since 1987. But in a way, it became the perfect nostalgia for me when I went there every once in awhile and I could play Laidback "White Horse", Guns N Roses (oh yes) "Paradise City", Inxs "Need You Tonite", Eurythmics "Here Comes The Rain Again", etc. About ten years back they bulldozed it and put in a Motel 6. | |

I still think they're great. The CD ones give you alot more selection since they can hold entire albums and not just singles.
The best jukebox in Calgary, Alberta is at Broken City. Lots of indie rock, new wave, and real hip-hop. | |

I'm not sure if they're still around, but here in the Philly/South Jersey area, Ponderosa was an awful cheap steakhouse that served terrible food about 9 years ago.  | |

There is a seafood restaurant in my area called Crechale's that has been in business since the 1960s and is still in the same location. From the outside, it looks like a little hole in the wall jukejoint but the cars outside are strictly Cadillacs, Mercedes, Lexus, etc. People still come from all over town because the food is good.
Anyway, they still have a jukebox but it just plays the records itself, you don't put money in it anymore. It still has the same 45s in it that I used to hear as a very small child such as Patsy Cline, Charlie Rich, Tammy Wynette, Frank Sinatra, hell, even some Gene Autry. Andy is a four letter word. | |

Their broiled flounder is excellent. I ordered one at another restaurant but it just didn't seem right eating it without hearing Charlie Rich singing "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" in the background.
