Parliament/Funkadelic's BEST album

Put on your sunglasses, and tell me what Parliament/Funkadelic album you feel is top (Atomic) dog.

I've just started really getting into them lately, and have bought a load of their albums. I've heard all the big tunes over the years, but haven't heard many of their albums in their entirety.

At the moment I'm really digging 'Mothership Connection'. A load of the hits, and it's impossible to skip one of the tracks. The only slight imperfection it has is the last track 'Night Of The Thumpasorus Peoples', but that's still seven-minutes of Bernie Worrell brilliance. P-Funk is sick, Mothership Connection is catchy as hell, Unfunky UFO is one of the funkiest songs I've ever heard, Handcuffs if pure, unadulterated brilliance, and Supergroovalisticprosifunkstication and We Want The Funk are funk classics which cannot be matched.

Next up for me is, Funketelechy vs. The Placebo Syndrome - which should arrive tomorrow. That's supposed to be the hidden classic in the pack. What can I expect from George and The Boys on that one?

What others should I get?

To me this band doesn't have a "best". One of my personal favorites is Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On but I can't say it is their best.

But if you want to hear P Funk's solid albums from start to finish I would say.

Mothership ( you already have )

One Nation Under A Groove

Funkentelechy vs The Placebo Syndrome ( which is on its way )

Maggot Brain

and The Motor Booty Affair to name a few

I'm just glad that I inspired THIS thread. We can never have enough talk about this U.S. Funk Mob! I don't have one "favorite" P-Funk album. I have many "favorites" though and for many different reasons.

The best Parliament/Funkadelic album is most definitely Funkentelechy vs The Placebo Syndrome. It's absolutely top notch. It has one of my all time fave Parliament tracks on it, Wizard Of Finance, an underrated slow jam with a killer bassline.
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Parliament--Funkentelechy. To me this almost captures the energy of a live show. The production, arrangements, concept & songwriting are top notch.

Funkadelic--Standing on the Verge of Getting it On. Like Jimi & Pink Floyd & Prince & shit (& pee) you've never heard before all rolled into one.

Thanks for the tips guys. I've heard 'Maggot Brain' and 'Standing On The Verge...', and loved both of them. I'm a massive Hendrix fan, so both hit a real nice spot with me. Still can't get enough of THAT solo (you know the one).

After I've injected some Funkentelechy, I'm gonna get 'Motor Booty Affair'. That whole underwater vibe sounds funny as hell - and Aqua Boogie is one of my all-time fav P-Funk songs. That, along with 'Clones of Dr. Funkenstein', will be my next purchases.

I wish you had the actual records. The album cover art is such a big part of the P Funk experience.

That suprises me. Get on it!
I can't pick a best Parliament/Funkadelic album. I can only pick my favorites at the moment.
Right now, Free Your Mind And Your Ass Will Follow is my personal favorite. It facinates me.
P-Funk is ongong and everlasting, that is why we are still here and talking about them.

Funkadelic - Funkadelic (their debut album) is my current favourite. In fact it's one of my favourite albums of all time. 10/10 from start to finish, not to mention the brilliant bonus tracks on the 2005 cd version.

I've been indulging in the Funkadelic Remasters myself. I have thus far, Free Your Mind (which sounds 100% better), Maggot Brain, America Its Eats Young, Let's Take it to The Stage, next is Standing on the Verge, then Funkadelic and last will be Tales of Kidd Funkadelic. I've aleady got the Warner Brothers era stuff remastered
So the bonus tracks are cool on Funkadelic? If so, I may get that one next. wink

I have all of the new Westbound remasters, the liner notes are great but there are some problems with the track edits on a few albums, the Standing On The Verge and Let's Take It To The Stage are flawed.

Yea, I heard about this. On Standing...I'll Stay is a 4 minute edit. How is Take it the Stage flawed? And weren't Westbound suppose to fix problem? This is why I haven't purchased Standing yet.

Under the name PARLIAMENT I'd have to say "Osmium" and "Funkentelechy Vs. The Placebo Syndrome". And under the FUNKADELIC name I'd have to say "Free Your Mind And Your Ass Will Follow" and "Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On". my personal faves!!!!!

From reading that forum, it sounds like you have to email Ace Records and they will correct the problem. Anybody know any more specifics or Ace Records email address?

Standing On The Verge of Getting It On is my personal favourite. I'm far more into Funkadelic than i am Parliament. You should also check out the Urban Dancefloor Guerillas the 1983 Pfunk album as i really dig that one too, its really overlooked.

I used to be into Parliament but when I heard the rock element in Funkadelic's music, Parliament became a mere memory.(for now anyway)

my fav Funkadelic album is MAGGOT BRAIN!

That CD is sick!!
