PET SHOP BOYS - Fundamental Appreciation Thread

OMG, this album is incredible. Possessing all the pep of their 80's albums, and song writing sophistication of Release, and plain old "umph" of Very.

I've been listening to this on heavy rotation for days.

you can purchase and download the import legally here:

they also have the "Fundamentalism" bonus disc w/ extra tracks and remixes, as well as the "I'm With Stupid" single with b-sides "Girls Don't Cry" and "The Ressurectionist", both of which are great.

A friendamine just gave me this album a few days ago. I'm hearing it's über-political, but hopefully my first listen'll be good. ::crossing fingers, turns on stereo::

This is the only cd that ive got this yr that i have listened at least once a day for the last 2 weeks.

Its political yes but not in a put offish manner.

Its a bit ballad heavy, but then again so was Behaviour, it just takes some time to get use to the flow after the first 2 songs.

I should be getting the 2 CD special edition tomorrow. So hopefully that will counter act the ballads.

but overall its a great cd.

Well i "found" it and i wasnt going to wait forever for the US/Label crap that was going down. I mean the CD is being released on Rhino,,,,I just thought Rhino pretty much only does remasters and greatest hits stuff.

Which is really sad.

Damn it, I paid to download the album, but it was only in .wma format, and now I can't get it on my iPod.

Not too sure how I feel about the album yet, though. I dig both 'Minimal' and 'Integral', 'I'm With Stupid' grew on me, and I haven't listened to the ballads yet. I was hoping for an album that would sound more like 'Flamboyant' and 'Miracles'. Oh well. I'm sure it'll grow on me. I really love the cover art, though. That florescent light concept is awesome.

Burn it to a CD and rip it as mp3 files - that's what I did.

That's what I'm going to have to do, just don't have a blank disc in the house at the moment.

I've really tried to dig the Pet Shop Boys. I can see what makes them appealing, I can see why their 'we don't give a shit about style' style is kinda cool, I don't mind his voice...

I dunno. confused I just can't warm to them. Not that I dislike them. I think I'm utterly ambivalent towards them.

So anyway, what a pointless waste of time this post is.
