MESHELL: NEW tour and NEW music info..."

go to

http://www.freemyheart.com

then...

for TOUR info: click the "TOUR DE FUNK" link at the top of the page and then once that loads, click "2006" link for the latest upcoming tour dates.

for NEW MUSIC info: click the "POLYLOGUE" link at top of page, then once that loads click the "CONCERTS" forum link, then click the "Joe's Pub" thread...there you'll see some recent posts including fan reviews of a few of the latest gigs with her latest new band (they're on tour working out new tunes for her forthcoming vocal album)...

The best way i can describe the new stuff that i've been fortunate enough to hear is...
a great combination of subtle but potent melody, mood and emotion, bubbling percussive tension and electric urgency, with loose freeflowing spontaneous instrumentation...believe me the S#$t feels good...its really the perfect combination of all that she's done in her career so far...it has the provocative and passionate lyrics and voice of her vocal records...combined with creative alive unpredictable compositions and arrangements of some of her most unique past vocal tunes and recent jazz records...now merged together with an even rawer electrified vibrancy and edginess smile...

...oh yeah, it kicks ass...its moving stuff.

...really it seems like another natural step in the evolution of this amazing (and still astonishingly under-appreciated) talent in our midst...(actually "Evolution" is the title to one of the new live tunes i heard...a few other GUESSES at titles of some of the other new tunes are "Headline", "Point Of No Return", "Waiting for You", "Guide Me"...again, with the exception of "Evolution" and "Headline" these are ONLY GUESSES at the titles...)

sleep on her if you wanna, but don't ever bitch about there not being any legitimately great honest to goodness true to the soul artists out there...she's been ahead of the game and carrying that torch for so long its ridiculous...

Also, Meshell doesn't strike me as the kind of artist that would have a [b]MySpace[/i] confused smile

If she did have one it's most likely third-party created.

actually i think i do remember reading a meshell interview (or posting by someone in her camp) that mentioned that she was thinking about putting up a myspace site. But that was maybe over a year ago.

my guess is that, while she may be interested in doing something like that (having a myspace as a venue where she could have that direct connection & voice to say & share whatever she wanted on a whim) in reality she is just so busy living, and so into the vibe of creating new music (lucky for us smile that she just doesn't have enough extra time to really get into the myspace thing.(not that it wouldn't be interesting).

But my guess is that (its just a guess, i'm not speaking for him) but i'm betting the moderator of FreeMyHeart.com would happily welcome her direct unedited input at that existing site if she were interested in having a venue to post whatever.

myspace is fine and all, but for me it really is about the music an artist creates.(guess thats obvious by my username eh?). Keep THAT coming and keep THAT honest and creative and interesting and i'm completely happy.

i am however fascinated by the creative process behind the music...what inspires an arist...what moves them to create certain tunes, what type of music are they listening to, what causes them use this instrument instead of that instrument on this particular part...etc. that type of thing is very very interesting to me. Also the music business side of things...i'm a bit curious about what goes on behind the curtain there as well (although unfortunately i have a good idea that its as bad or worse than i already imagine)

for me though, It all comes back to music in the end...i suppose i'm somewhat obsessed with it, especially her stuff...her stuff just hits me like nobody elses really...

so, myspace or not, as long as i can find a way to find out when her stuff is coming out, where she's playing live then i'm good...for me the only consistent/reliable spot for that type of info over the last decade has been http://www.freemyheart.com...

Basically I inquired about a MySpace page for the same reasons you've written -- to keep up on the music. I find myspace (aside from all the weirdoes) to be a great way to keep on bands and get updates, like if they're putting out albums, singles, videos, need promo and what not. I find it much better and more condensed than a mailing list because a lot of times those emails are annoying and they get lost in the shuffle of my e-mailbox.

Absolutely , a friend of mine is a radio-dj , and through myspace his network for interviewing artists has grown faster than before .
Besides that , there is the same tool as on this org when you can see if a myspacer is online . Worx much more efficient .
