That's my pick. I can barely recall the last one, but We're All in the Same Gang and Self Destruction were in regular rotation on Yo! MTV Raps. [Edited 5/23/06 13:42pm]

Even though I'm from the West Coast (Cali), I'm going for "Self Destruction". That cut had all my favorite MC's of the day on it, it was the original, and the production was better (IMO). I like the HEAL Project least of all. Especially after hearing how LL didn't wanna be involved in the video.

Same as Avram, I'm frim DA WESSSSSIIIIIDE! but I have to give it to "Self Destruction" because that shit was just tight and pumpin', ALTHOUGH, I do like the line in "Same Gang" when Above The Law comes on and the lead rapper says "Bein' the pimps that we are" LOL! Hilarious! Living to die and I'll die to live again - 360 degrees - comprehend

Self-Destruction: For Chuck D and MC Lyte alone.
Another underrated jam along the same lines: "Rise and Shine," Kool Moe Dee, KRS-ONE and Chuck D. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

.
Self Destruction without a doubt!! That song TRULY captured Hip-Hop at its finest hour. That song was pure concousness and intelligence. But little good it did. ...Cuz actually it wound up being a very prophetic song of what was about to shortly come for Hip-Hop, with the emergence of Gangsta Rap, and it's whole violent and "bitch" type lyrics and glorification of black on black gangbanging culture that chewed up the whole Hip-Hop movement and ultimately destroyed it. Dr. Dre and NWA were responsible for that,...the same guys that coyly produced All in the Same Gang. . [Edited 5/23/06 20:11pm]

That song TRULY captured Hip-Hop at its finest hour. True indeed! That was the first hip-hop song to which I learned all the words. I still rock that joint regularly. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I like the first two about equally, but I chose We're All in the Same Gang just because I heard Self Destruction so much.

I liked "We're All In The Same Gang" more back in the day (Tone Loc )
But now I play "Self Destruction" every once in a while.

Leave the guns and the crack and the knives alone
MC Lyte is on the microphone This song will forever be connected in my mind with a house party at my best friends house when I was 13. We played that song on repeat (except "repeat" in those days = rewinding the tape over and over) for so long, some of our friends threatened to leave. SELF DESTRUCTION by a country mile, bitches. We're All In The Same Gang was corny by comparison. The Normal Whores Club

Self Destruction gets my vote. The message is still important today. I listened to it recently on tape. Heal Yourself does not ring a bell at all. What are the lyrics? "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."
