50 Cent was named Songwriter of the Year for his contributions to five award-winning songs: "Candy Shop," "Disco Inferno," "Hate It Or Love it," "How We Do" and "Just A Lil Bit." This is the second time that 50 Cent has received ASCAP Pop Songwriter of the Year honors. Addressing the audience of songwriters via a video message, the multi-platinum selling artist said: "I want to tell you that I use you for energy. I listen to the material that you create… it helps me move to the next level…it inspires me to write even more exciting material.

I hear Lumidee was voted best female vocalist along with William Hung as best male singer and Chris Brown was nominated for the legend award. 
50's not "best" at anything except for maybe "best attention whore". ASCAP hasn't been credible for years now. | |

Don't worry. I haven't forgot about Mike E. for his solid keyboard skills on that Korg Triton. But Dr. Dre is THE executive producer who program the drum machine, work the pro-tool mixer, AND help Mike with the hook up at Interscope/Universial Record. 2. Yes, Wanksta was a underground turn movie soundtrack hit....but not a pop crossover hit like In Da Club (again, the beats by Dr. Dre) that really took hip-hop America by storm. 3. 50 makes good music for THE moment. But he has yet to created any kind of classic that would put him on that same page with Prince, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Madonna, or even with crossover rappers like LL Cool J, OutKast, & 2pac. | |

Anybody on the board who can play an instrument has more musical talent than 50 Scents because he has NONE.

No he doesn't. He doesn't play any instruments or even sequence. He raps and doesn't even do that very fluently (mumble-mouthed mutha f-----). Its an insult to every REAL songwriter to have an award given to 50 for songwriting. The whole industry is payola. Awards ain't shit anymore. People just wait around for their label to buy them one these days. Furthermore, anybody who can fix their mouth to say "50 Cent wrote the best song" of ANY year needs to be Van Gogh'd - both ears. | |
