well to answer the posts original question...
it would have been nice to see Meshell there. Not sure if she was invited or not but without a doubt she gets my vote as THE most trailblazing musical artist (let alone black, female artist) out there in the modern era hands down. She is carrying the torch like nobody else. Not sure if Jill Scott was there, but she should have been one of the youngins as well. Someone mentioned Sade too, i'm down with that. As for the event itself, it was a positive, beautiful, well deserved and long overdue 'thank you' to these honorees. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, period. | |
