Teddy Riley to produce the new Michael Jackson album

TEDDY RILEY WORKING ON NEW MICHAEL JACKSON ALBUM
Producer going to Bahrain to work on tracks

As rumours have been flying around about who Michael Jackson will be collaborating with next, and what possible mix-tapes he may be appearing on, it seems one producer who Michael has successfully worked with in the past has confirmed he will be working on the new album.

A month after the announcement of a new Michael album being released by late 2007 by Two Seas records, an interview with legendary R&B producer Teddy Riley has appeared on underground-soul.com, and it seems the producer will have an involvement in the new project.

After stating within the interview he would be working with Michael, he was asked by underground-soul.com's Greg Clifford if there would be others working on the album, "There will be other people working on there but he’s looking at me doing some quarterbacking on the project," Riley said. "I’m probably the one who is gonna foresee this project going forward on the music technology production side getting everybody to finish their projects, and hopefully he designates me to be that quarterback."

Riley - who came to fame as part of singing group Guy in the 1980's, but is most famous for being in the group Blackstreet (which he formed himself) - confirmed in the interview he would be travelling Michael's new home of Bahrain to work on the project.

The producer has previously worked with Michael on the first six tracks of 1991's Dangerous album as well as the title track, Ghosts and the title track from 1997's Blood On the Dancefloor and Heaven Can Wait, 2000 Watts, Don't Walk Away and Whatever Happens from 2001's Invincible.

Isn't Terry Riley's time gone???

MJ shoudl work with some underground producer that has original ideas not the new jack swing (whatever you call it) formula!

I smell a flop coming! sad

yeah, it worked the first time.

unfortunately, we've had 2 albums since then trying to repeat the sound/success of it and coming up short. he needs to work with someone new. we've heard this album once, twice, three times already.

Call Quincy and Phil Ramone.

Don't call RJ.

Teddy is brillant in his own way but "Old Jack Swing?"

This is excellent news IMO. TR's still a genius. Aaron Hall on backing vocals would be hot.

There would be no one there to stop him from doing those annoying hick-ups throughout the verse.....and saying..."dadgummit"

ummm thank you!!! That shit he did on the "invincible" album was scrappy as hell....this is not 1986 and his sound don't sound no different than then....he's stuck in a time machine

why don't just michael say some "sha-mons, he-he's" and call it a day...
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Maybe Teddy won't be producing all the tracks. I do believe he needs a new producer. Dangerous and all albums after didn't so so well.
In The Closet,Dangerous,Ghosts, and Blood And The Dancefloor were some good songs.

Michael needs to tottaly change and 21sct Centurify his image.

I´m happy that it´s Teddy. He did Dangerous with Mike - my favourite MJ album. I always loved what they´ve done together.

I know what you mean. There is no other producer I would rather see Michael work with again. While HIStory (Disc 2) is my favorite full length, Michael Jackson album, and it contains no Riley productions, I think Dangerous contained some of Michael's best music as far as production goes. Also, the track "Blood On The Dance Floor" is one of my ALL time favorite MJ songs, and who produced it? You guessed it, Riley and Jackson. smile I read this news earlier at MJNO. Just the fact that the man is going to Bahrain, says something about their working relationship. I'm glad to these these 2 talents in the studio together. Maybe there is hope for this 2 Seas project after all! nod

Teddy Riley produced one of my favourite Invincible tracks: Whatever Happens. So don't write him off yet.

Exactly and the B-Side song, "Shout" if we are talking about his amazing Michael tracks post Blood On The Dance Floor.

If Riley produces something with Mike along the lines of their 92 promo song "Someone Put Your Hand Out", I'm happy. But if he produces something with Mike along the lines of "She Drives Me Wild", I won't be happy. Granted that song kicked ass back then (91-93), it sounds dated now. However, if Mike and Teddy did something like "Remember The Time", I'd be all over the mother sucker!

No the 9/11 single was available through the internet (much like Prince's Hurricane Katrina single) and it raised a fair bit of money for the 9/11 victims.

I think DarlingDiana means "dropped" as in "aborted", not like when I say "dropped" as in "released". smile

I´d be happy in both cases. I looooove She drives me wild! One of the coolest Mj tracks ever!
