Michael Jackson's McCartney and Wonder duets

Does anyone else think that it would have been better to have 'Say Say Say' on Thriller instead of 'The Girl is Mine' ?

Also, 'Get it' instead of 'Just Good Friends' on Bad ? I reckon that both of these are better than the two that ended up on MJ's albums.

They were recorded around the same time and Paul McCartney used 'Say Say Say' on the Pipes of Peace album and Stevie kept 'Get It' for his Characters album.

Shame.

"Just Good Friends" is garbage.Mike should have included "Get It" on his 'Bad' album instead.

Nah. Get It ain't a great song either. He should've included Streetwalker on the Bad album instead. smile

Agreed! I don't like either of those duets much at all. Streetwalker is nice, but I love Fly Away.

Fly Away is a very pretty song, but I think it would have sounded out of place alongside the other tracks. He could have used it as a B side, tho'. That's one of my greatest disappointments with Mike, apart from one or two tracks we never got any B sides. And we know damn well that there are plenty of songs he could've used. mad

Yeah. Fly Away also sounds very short, almost like it wasn't finished.

I think you are very much correct. And that's not even an opinion, "Say say say" and "Get It" are far stronger songs than what ended up on the albums. At least he could have put "Say Say Say" on the History collection CD, or at the very least on that more recent collection. But no.

Michael Jackson fans should just be glad The Man didn't end up on any of his records.

IMO it's obvious that "Say Say Say" sounds more Macca's(a-verse/Chorus) song than "The Girl Is Mine". That's probably the reason why it appears on McCartney's album in the first place. Because Jackson worked for Sony/CBS and McCartney for EMI, it's quite normal that it's not in any Sony's collection.

I'll agree that "Get It" and especially "Say Say Say" are stronger songs, I think both "The Girl Is Mine" and "Just Good Friends" are fine. Besides, I love the spoken parts in the former.

I think all these duets suck. Some more than others. Say Say Say was lucky it was released when it was--during the height of MJs career when even a song with him singing nothing but background vocals could be a hit.

and also, probably because Say Say Say didn't exist at the time Thriller was released.

It's a pretty cheesy song but it was the biggest song of the year (at least in the US).

I liked how Linda was Paul's girl in the video, and LaToya was Mike's! Yech!

I think Paul should have gotten the better of the two songs...Say Say Say. Thriller had plenty of hits on it. The girl is Mine is the Ballad needed to Round out Thriller as well as Human Nature.

I wonder is "who's album got what" was determined by who wrote more of the song or who was a guest on who's session.

Just good friends is my fav track off bad. I love that song to death. And stevie's synth solo rules too. Me and my mate made up this dance to it on the chorus lol

"get it" is quite good, and Jacko sounds great, so thats my second fav duet after "just good friends"
