Chaka Khan's In Defence Of Whitney Houston Chaka backs Whitney
Source: www.itv.com/news/entertai..._6222.html R&B icon Chaka Khan has been speaking out in defence of her pal Whitney Houston. Houston was recently accused of having an alleged drug problem, while pictures of her looking worse for wear have been circulated. Khan said: We've no way of really knowing what's happening with her, unless you're there with her, y'know? "It's obvious she's going through some difficult times right now but I have every faith, and my prayers are constantly with her. "And I'm there for her when she needs me. And I know she will be fine." She added: "She's a strong, articulate, persecuted woman, and I think she just needs to be left alone and let her get on with her life. Let her battle her demons and I know she'll come out on top."

Remember yall Chaka has been there herself so she knows what she is talking about. Don't criticize a person's problem unless you yourself have been there and have came thur it successfully yourself!

That's the problem. Has the person giving the suggestions completely come through it? tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Whitney's life will make a really good made for television movie.

I swear the maturity level on this site is dropping by the minute. When is it funny to laugh at a person trying to show compassion toward their fellow man/woman who maybe going thur tough times? some of you folks need to take a good look into the mirror. Sad, truly sad!

I wasn't laughing at someone showing compassion. I was laughing at the response. It is quite comical to me that someone who may not be on the wagon is giving suggestions to someone else off the wagon

Not to sound preachy, but a famous person once said "Let him that is without sin cast the first stone". Hey if you disagree with that, hey take it up with him not me.

I'm not throwing stones. Thinking something is amusing is not throwing stones. However, I don't think anyone who is going through a problem is qualified to advise someone else with the same problem

However, I don't think anyone who is going through a problem is qualified to advise someone else with the same problem So a person battling breast cancer is not qualified to render comfort to another person battling breast cancer? The folks who attend AA meetings for 20 years can not be of comfort to the alcoholic who is walking thur the door for the first time? Have you ever heard the expression " once an addict always an addict"? Help to addicts is always given from other addicts. While I believe it is true that if the blind leads the blind both will fall into the pit, advice and or comfort is readily more acceptible coming from someone who is there or has been there. Everything is not and should not be humorous in life.

Everything is not and should not be humorous in life. I think those are different things. Do you really think a woman who is curerently being beaten by her spouse or significant other can really advise battered women on how to help themselves if they're not even helping themselves or have succeeded is delivering themselves from the situation? A disease like cancer is uncontrolable and I've been told alcoholism is a disease too. That's completely different than someone in a situation that they can control. I would think the help would be more affective coming from someone who has been through and overcame it and stayed clean

There are people all over the world today that have willingly put themselves into some troublesume situations (Aids, alcohol addiction, drug addiction, pential system, lung cancer, etc.) who wish with all their might that they could turn back the hands of time. But no one can. We all at sometime or another do things that we regret, and what we all will come to realize is that we will need help overcoming a problem. And sometimes it maybe not a solution but a listening ear we need to hear, words of encouragement from a friend. I think that is what Chaka was giving.

You are assuming that Whitney can control her situation. Mental stress can put a person in a state of mind which prohibits them from controling their situation, all the more reason that person get help from someone. Even if you thought that Chaka's own personal life disqualified her from rendering advice to Whitney, how is that humorous?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to make anyone feel bad, it's just that some situations are too sad and serious to poke fun at. No one would clown on a mother grieving the lost of a son from a war, but we find it humorous to clown a musical icon going thur a troubled life? Go figure?

I found someone else's comments on here humorous, yes. I wasn't poking fun at Whitney's situation. The notion of someone on drugs helping someone else get clean is acinine to me and funny. I'm not laughing at her life, per se, or Chaka's. As to what you said about AIDS. I don't think anyone who gets it through unprotected sex or needle sharing is qualified in preaching to people how to protect themselves when they didn't. I think it's a slap in the face and ridiculous that it would take somethng like that for someone to get their act together I don't know Whitney personally, but I am going to assume she didn't start taking drugs because she was going through some mental problems. I think it was avalable to her and she did it just to do it. That's just my opinion. I don't know for sure. I have never done drugs. I have never smoked weed. I know I never will even if it was put on a platter in front of me. So, don't expect me to be compassionate for someone who has millions of dollars and steps over the little people. Someone who doesn't have to worry about paying rent or bills or buying food. Someone who can get he best medical care, best clothes, personal trainers, chefs, and etc. If I had that opportunity, I would not fuck it up [Edited 5/31/06 22:52pm]

Not one of us can do that. So none of us can say how we may view things ten years from now less ten minutes. Second you are assuming that without the worrys of paying rent, or bills, or buying food, and having medical care, and clothes, Whitney had nothing to stress herself out about. Trust me, I believe Whitney along with many other celebrities have far more things to stress them out than the needs of common folks. Our worries are not their worries. People with money are the ones with the most troubled lives or have you noticed? [Edited 5/31/06 23:14pm]
