PATRICE RUSHEN - Now ( 1984 ) 2 years after her big smash Forget Me Nots , Patrice finished this album in her private studio . In a review she tells that this freedom took a lot of stress away compared to the sessions in hired studios and the pressure from the record company . She recorded much songs on that album and it includes some fine pieces : Feels So Real ( Won't Let Go ) This opening-track is (imo) a worthy follow-up to Forget Me Nots . And her keyboard-work really sparkles in combination of her silky voice . http://sg1.allmusic.com/c...9&r=20.asx Gett Off ( You Fascinate Me ) This was her second single after Feels ... and in this track i clearly hear the influence of the Minneapolis sound . Especially the keyboards . http://sg1.allmusic.com/c...4&r=20.asx And i recently discovered there's a video from this one Perfect Love An infectious mid-tempo which brings me back a certain club-era . Her co-partner and bassplayer Freddy "Ready" Washington delivers good thumb-popping as always . http://sg1.allmusic.com/c...v&r=20.asx To Each His Own + Heartache Heartbreak 2 sparkling ballads . To Each ... has a nice message too . http://sg1.allmusic.com/c...1&r=20.asx . . . [Edited 5/25/06 9:50am] | |
