Bananarama's "Drama" released in US

I was very surprised to see it among the new releases coming out yesterday. I bought it at Borders that day and the guy said "Bananarama if flying off the shelf". I should have asked him if had actually sold another copy before me (and I was there kind of early....it was a qaurter to 11). Anyway, I was surpised that the album was released, even if the album is very indie (The Lab?). Could this be the return of dance pop in the US, even to a slight degree thanks to Madonna. Granted, COADF hasn't had the impact of her past albums (even "Music" had more of an impact on the culture) but even Cascada's "Everytime We Touch" was a top ten hit, probably thanks to downloads and with something like Rhaiana's "SOS" hitting number one, could be a sign of the times. Hip-hop's strangle hold on radio is fading, with dance pop and light rock doing well. Too bad hard/alternative rock acts aren't reaping the benefits along with older artists, yet.

I only flipped through it and was surprised how much they sound the same (even with one member missing) from their hit 80s heyday. A slight update musically, basic euro dance. Not bad but maybe I got listen to the whole thing.

DRAMA is a really good CD, got the import back when it came out, I was very surprised that it was released here, though its on an indie label, Universal is the label owner. The reason its selling well, especially here in NYC, is that BANANARAMA did some appearances here through local import shops and stuff like that. U will see alot more of that with the 80's artists who are on "indie" labels now, mainly the Euro artists that still sell overseas but are considered too old in the American Market. Now if we can only get Universal in the USA to do what they did for a-ha in the UK and get the CD out here!! I mean only influenced COLDPLAY,KEANE and has gotten praise from U2, Radiohead and Morrissey.

talking about the 3rd member:

Have you check Siobhan music! Shakespeare's sister was one of the best pseudo-goth pop duos ever!
