LOADS of 'em. lots of punk, new wave, obscuro stuff from the early '80s...she went on a rant about how all these videos are corroding away in MTV's vaults and nobody is taking any trouble to preserve them, and that was one of the reasons she wanted to do the 24 hour show. she was also trying to teach kids about music, though it was in her own bizarro, muddled way. she sent a group of kids out to a tower records with 20 bucks each to pick out a CD, and she had them explain why they bought what they did. that was pretty cool, actually. when she wants, she can be kind of brilliant. unfortunately, she doesn't want all that often...

Awesome. Anx, upload that shit to youtube wouldja? smile

Springsteen's not too funky

And nobody acknowledged (so I'll say it again) the antidote to all things funky:

Pat Boone!

I've heard them, but you're right I don't know them. Actually I've been on a Bruce kick lately, so I'll probably buy them soon.

What's considered to be "funky" is very subjective. Who someone may find to be funky, I may think otherwise and visa versa. Like for instance, I think Black Sabbath was funky, but I know many other's who will argue the opposite till the cows come home. AC/DC's "Back In Black" is super funky but other's will say hell nah. It's all subjective.

I disagree there! He's part of the so stiff so cold so funky electronic crowd, like Kraftwerk.

I disagree as well. Listen to "We Take Mystery To Bed" and tell me if that ain't funky.
