Qunicy Jones, Rod Temperton & other tragedies.....

WERE the Death of this amazing group, called HEATWAVE.
Not to mention the murder of their guitarist , Johnnies near-fatal accident
And THE biggest blow to them was still to come, in the form of Quincy Jones.
EVERY ONE of those amazing ROD TEMPERTON penned songs, like "Thiller" or "Razmatazz" were or would have been intended for his Own band HEATWAVE.
Quincy was smart to have had Rod Tempertons music & arrangements
or The POP world as we know it, wouldn't have as much class.
"The Lady in my Life" & "Baby Be Mine" was supposed to be heard thru MJ's voice.
Just Like "Ain't no Half Steppin" was meant for Johnnie.

Heatwave would have been just that much more of a monster (huge popularity) band with those songs.

It's unfair that Heatwave's popularity went downhill after the first two albums. They continued making superb jams into the early 80s...

"Gangsters Of The Groove"
"Where Did We Go Wrong"
"Posin' Til Closin"
"Lettin It Loose"
"Big Guns"

and even though Rod Temperton left the band in 1979 to join the Quincy Jones camp,he still continued to write the occasional song or two for Heatwave.

The song "Off The Wall" by MJ sounds alot like Heatwave's "Boogie Nights".I consider it a "cousin" of that song, lol.

Oh Yeah !
I don't want to take anything away from Q's legacy
but, what really put him on the map was ROD TEMPERTON
Try to imagine "Off the wall" & "Thiller" without Mr. Temperton's involvement.

Hell, "The Dude" or "Back on the Block" too
